Fangraphs has it 52%-48% in favor of the Mariners.

Vegas has the Jays as a -135 favorite.

Game 7 of the ALCS and this is as close of a matchup as it gets.

Thinking it might be a good idea to do a couple shots before first pitch tonight.

Why do you keep saying that? They've shown up most of the PS, we need the pitching to show up, if anything. I have faith in Bieber, mind you.

Because I don't have much faith in the pitching showing up (outside of Bieber).  I don't like our chances of winning a close game.  The offense needs to be relentless - early and often.

Need to be outside of grand slam territory LOL

Did you catch in the post game interviews last night when JS confirmed it was his plan all along to go with Hoffman for 2 innings last night.  The JS mob ought to have been infuriated with that plan/decision.  Thank god it worked out - which obviously distracted them.

Hoping for a nice 9-2 game tonight.

Jays wins this post season
10-1
13-7
5-2
13-4
8-2
6-2
Outscored opponent 55-18

Jays losses this post season
6-9 (starter left the game up 6-3)
1-3 (starter left the game when the score was 1-1)
3-10 (starter left the game when the score was 3-3)
2-6 (starter left the game up 2-1)

The offense has been able to mask the bullpen for almost the entire playoff run so far. They'll need to do it one more time. Can't be said enough, a close game late does not favor the Jays at all.

Mariners are feast or famine the lineup. Take the sting out of their bats by keeping them off balance. Score early and often and take this series.

I don’t understand why they are choosing IKF over Davis Scheneider but it is what it is. Davis was probably having some of the best at-bats on the team down the strech and has barely played in the playoffs.

Thank goodness the rotation has generally pitched very well throughout the post season.

The Mariners are all RHP SP

According the baseballreference IKF is elite defensively (not as good according to fangraphs).   IKF career .260 .315 .360 or so, Schneider .217 .320 .410 or so with much higher k-rate.  Plug all that in to the magic lineup computer plus strengths/weaknesses against certain pitch types and I can buy that the data says IKF.

Honestly not agreeing with it, just my guess that the Jays data might support it.

I think it's as simple as the Mariners having a lot of high-velo RHP and Davis has shown that he simply cannot hit that stuff.

IKF isn't great against high-velo RHP either but he does produce pretty good BAs against it so the hope is he puts the ball in play and can either get you productive outs or a couple of base hits. He's a better fielder and baserunner as well.

I think it largely comes down to IKF being a better option against the high velocity fastballs largely featured by the Mariner's rotation.

After work I'm going to work on fixing a leak in the hot tub to distract myself until game time that I've held off for 6 weeks.
