He’s been basically a 5 Win player twice now. I don’t even think he’s been the best offensive version of himself with the Jays. 4 wins with almost his Defense alone might be his floor.

As for the fire into the sun comment. That really was an emotional reaction to some bad at-bat. I did say it though so I will own it. With that being said I obviously want Daulton Varsho to be healthy and the best version of himself. I will also admit I tend to get attached to our prospects at times. Gabriel Moreno was tough to part with even with the concerns he would never hit for power. I think looking back 2 years both  teams benefited from trading from a position of strength at the time.

Crazy how the Jays went from basically having 3 Starting calibre catchers to now its Kirk and not much else on the horizon. Kirk is very important to this team and until framing is ultimately eliminated by robo umps it’s invaluable to steal as many strikes as he does. Plus I think we all believe there is way more with the bat. Seems like his Power is returning this Spring. Looks in better shape as well.

Ok I'm getting suspicious someone has hacked Jonn's account or something.

Aliens actually. We won’t return him until the Shatkins era wins one playoff game.

There is a possibility the shoulder surgery actually helps Varsho throw better (and hit better?).  Who knows how long he'd been battling through pain/restrictions.

That said, surgery can also be difficult to return from and there's obviously a lot of examples where it cost players power and such for awhile.  Fingers crossed.

If I'm not mistaken the shoulder issue wasn't a long term and that the initial injury happened a month or so before his season ended. I believe it occurred on a defensive play.

Isn't it a rotator cuff? As a LHH his right shoulder actually shouldn't make much of a difference in swinging a bat so I don't think the power output should be impacted all that much.

I have a terrible left shoulder/rotator cuff and have pretty bad strength when pushing anything above my head yet can swing a golf club with no problem.

In the unlikely event that the current front office actually wins a playoff game you can still keep him. This version is much better.

This was a decent read, Tulo trade and Hoffman the full circle, lol...

Hahaha... really going to miss Jordan, loved that guy.

Gone is Jordan Romano, the beloved Canadian closer who walked into the stadium each day as the most laid-back personality on the roster… until that ninth inning rolled around. Jeff Hoffman won’t exactly be recreating those bullpen scenes -- pacing back and forth, dripping sweat -- but different approaches work for different people.

“A little bit calmer. Jordan was probably the exact opposite,” manager John Schneider said, already laughing. “You’d probably want your daughter to marry him when he’s not on the mound, then you see him on the mound and you want to stay away from him. Hoffman is right in the middle, I think. He’s pretty consistent. He understands the situations and he likes being in those high-leverage spots.”

Robertson, Grandal and JDM for about 18M ish, yay or nay?

I'm yay all day.

The fact that David Robertson is still available is crazy to me. I can’t imagine him holding out for a multi year deal at 39. Jays should be all over that. Still posting an elite K rate.

I don’t see at-bats for JDM. He’s s full time DH.

Basically forces Vlad and Santander into the field full time. And takes at-bats away from guys like Wagner.

I don't know if I am in the minority here, likely, but I hope the FO trades Vladdy ASAP. Boston is in our division, but to (say) get Casas and two of their best prospects would be a boon. Maybe Jake Burger and 3 Ranger prospects? Anyway, he will be a season long distraction. Buh-bye.

Dude? Casas, Anthony and Campbell for 1 year of Vlad... Burger, Walcott, Rocker and Leiter, lol. Give me 6 of what you're having, sounds like a party.

Ryan Burr also going to start on the IL with a shoulder injury so the bullpen definitely has taken a hit. Robertson makes a lot of sense, you don't want to go into the season with bums like Zach Pop on the roster.

Seems like a Lucas Luetge profile. Lefty that only throws cutters and sweepers, both of which tunnel perfectly with each other. Had some great seasons for the Yankees in 21-22 as a lefty who you wouldn’t mind facing a RHH.

It's going to be interesting to see how this skill is valued, should it be implemented in the regular season.

Extend Kirk NOW

Gonna need to tweek catchers defensive metrics when ABS comes in.

Framing won't go away, but trying to quantify correct and incorrect challenges will certainly have a value

That would be great. We're due for something to break right in our pen.
