This Teams' run differential and additional losses without Varsho would be astronomical. He has seriously saved them probably 50 runs so far this year.

I know there a stat that (tries to) tells us, but damn he has saved a lot!

Absolute crime if he doesn't win a gold glove this year

He might actually end up at +30 by DRS

He is +23 right now, blowing away all other OF. #2 has +15 runs.

OAA, he is basically tied for #1 with +13 runs.

Also tied for #1 basically, by UZR/150.

Truly he is the best outfielder I have ever seen on the Jays. The young version of Pillar was close but I think Varsho has slightly better reads and jumps.

I actually thought it might be higher than +30. Does that include today's game?

Might be a good time to shutdown Yariel for the year.

Not sure if you just looked at the boxscore, but the Y. Rodriguez that got demolished today (and has been awful all season) isn't Yariel, it's some scrub AAAA reliever by the name of Yerry.

Seriously, this is what we have to look forward to the rest of the season. I'm not interested in seeing a bunch of AA players get wrecked. That clown upstairs is subjecting the fans to this travesty.

Agree we should not be here. But what would have been 100% worse is holding on to guys for a lost season. At least they did the right thing, considering. I thought they could have gone further. But they did all right with what they did.

Might be a good time to stop watching this mierda and to stop giving Rogers your hard earned money.

For all of their supposed pre game planning they can't seem to get out of their own way. I doubt Schneider would want to hit him that high in the order. Khakis are unstoppable.

it's probably what the "line-up optimizer" spits out. Lefty bat 2nd given who is batting leadoff and 3rd....

This.

Who cares if they lose every game between now and the end of season (hyperbole... i know) The point now is getting Yariel as many innings as he can get to build up for next season, seeing what guys like Barger and Loperfido can do with some more regular-ish PAs, and what any pen arm not named Green can do in more leveraged roles. Swanson getting a good few months in after his disastrous start to the season would be great to see.

To me, that's more watchable than trying to fool yourself that we're going to be watching a good team. Todays result was inevitable when you're running Paulino and other AAA scrubs out behind him. Barger mashing baseballs was nice to see.

I don't think anybody should be surprised that we got here. The FO was too dependent on great health and peak performances.

Also, we're supposed to give them credit for not holding on? There was nothing to hold on to. We were beyond the point of fooling ourselves. They had one of the worst records in the league. It's like saying at least the medical professionals knew enough to close the gaping wound and not let the patient bleed out. Not even a golf clap for that.

Would be good to see Barger have a strong finish to the year.

I'm amazed at some of his swings on inside fastballs.

I'm really excited to see him get regular at bats the rest of the year. The tools are loud - I hope he can show us he belongs.
