BTS Community Moderator Posted December 21, 2024 Posted December 21, 2024 Holy crap there are still 3 guaranteed years left on the Stanton deal lol
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted December 21, 2024 Posted December 21, 2024 Yankees go from one cooked old 1B to another Ah no risk for them really. They don't need Goldy to be one of their main bats in the lineup. If he bounces back somewhat and gives them 2-3 WAR with similar offensive numbers like in 2023 with a 122 wRC+, that's plenty. Only a one-year deal worth $12.5M so if he doesn't pan out, he's off the books in 2026.

But most likely outcome is probably just like a 1-WAR season with something around league average offense. Boring. He also might be completely cooked.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted December 21, 2024 Posted December 21, 2024 Holy crap there are still 3 guaranteed years left on the Stanton deal lol He'll probably get to 500 career HR's with them as long as he gets around 450 AB's per season. 600 looks tough but it's within reach if plays until he's 40-41.

Last two years he's been in a steady decline and is 37. Prime Goldy was such an awesome player.

If he gets there its going to be an interesting look into whether 500 is still an auto-HoF ticket. He's not a HoFer to me.

thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted December 21, 2024 Posted December 21, 2024 f***, Rickey Henderson passed away. One of the greatest ever.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted December 21, 2024 Posted December 21, 2024 Stanton at least when healthy has still been productive for them. He would have been second in HR's on the Jays team this year with 27. Vladdy was the only Jays player who hit above 20 HR's last season lol. ^this guy will bitch about the Springer contract but will tongue the Yankees over their 300 million dollar man giving them about 1 WAR a year
Laika Community Moderator Posted December 21, 2024 Posted December 21, 2024 ^this guy will bitch about the Springer contract but will tongue the Yankees over their 300 million dollar man giving them about 1 WAR a year No morals at all

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 21, 2024 Posted December 21, 2024 s***** He was so exciting to watch 100% One of the best ever. It's crazy to think he died after a bout with pneumonia. RIP
The_DH Verified Member Posted December 21, 2024 Posted December 21, 2024 s***** He was so exciting to watch Totally agree, he made things happen.
max silver Old-Timey Member Posted December 21, 2024 Posted December 21, 2024 Yeah he could be very well cooked. Last two years he's been in a steady decline and is 37. Prime Goldy was such an awesome player. Goldschmidt showed signs of life and put up a 120 wRC+ in the second half. The Yankees seem to have a lot of success helping turn guys around at the plate and based on his expected stats Yankee stadium would add a handful of home runs onto his record so the Yankees may get decent value out of this signing.
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted December 21, 2024 Posted December 21, 2024 f***, Rickey Henderson passed away. One of the greatest ever. Seems somehow surreal that he would pass away the same year the Oakland A's would also pass away, in a manner of speaking. RIP Ricky, you were an original.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 21, 2024 Posted December 21, 2024 TBH he was a guy you kinda loved to hate but always exciting to watch. The talent was so immense. It WAS a little weird when the Jays suddenly had him and my dad and I had to cheer for him. But you know.. . World Series #2.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 21, 2024 Posted December 21, 2024 Naylor to the Diamondbacks
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 21, 2024 Posted December 21, 2024 Naylor to the Diamondbacks The Diamondbacks are acquiring first baseman Josh Naylor from the Guardians for right-hander Slade Cecconi and a Competitive Balance Round B draft pick, according to a report from ESPN’s Jeff Passan
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 21, 2024 Posted December 21, 2024 I keep forgetting you can trade some draft picks now
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 21, 2024 Posted December 21, 2024 Is it just me or is that a light return for Naylor?
Masterbather Old-Timey Member Posted December 21, 2024 Posted December 21, 2024 I don't care about anything else today. Baseball lost a legend, and another piece of my childhood dies. Rest easy Ricky and thank you.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted December 22, 2024 Posted December 22, 2024 Naylor to the Diamondbacks Atkins loves coming in second eh!
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted December 22, 2024 Posted December 22, 2024 ^this guy will bitch about the Springer contract but will tongue the Yankees over their 300 million dollar man giving them about 1 WAR a year Never once mentioned his contract. I just replied to a post saying that out of all the washed up vets that Yankees have gone through, he still has been somewhat productive. Contract aside, Jays could use a bat like Stanton in their lineup. He would be their second best power hitter lol.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted December 22, 2024 Posted December 22, 2024 Carlos Santana back with the Guardians. 1 year/$12M contract.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 22, 2024 Posted December 22, 2024 Is it just me or is that a light return for Naylor? Naylor contract: 1 year left at 14.2M and possibly a comp draft pick if they qualify him
