Only happy if we find a good alternative. If we strike out like last year, fans will be crying about that missed opportunity. We'll see what the great minds of Shatkins have in store lol

K.....

It doesn't particularly appear as though the Astros plan to use Paredes at third base if they are attempting to trade for Arenado.

Ya I think there is a chance they just view Paredes as their 1B. I don’t think he is preventing them from signing Bregman at all

I f***ing respect how skilled someone like Colon had to be to perform that well while looking like he didn't give 2 shits about preparing for it loll

Yet, you've destroyed guys like Vlad, Kirk and Manoah on here. These posts are simply on point that you're an imbecile... just saying.

Mets, Griffin Canning agree to 1-yr, $4.25M deal

Damn, at that cost would have been a nice arm for the back of the rotation. Canning is durable and has a bit of untapped potential still as well.

Difference is Bartolo actually performed. Vladdy was awful in 2023 and still is an awful baserunner and makes a lot of mental mistakes. Manoah and Kirk have completely fallen off.

Nationals signed Mike Soroka for 1 year 9M

Damnit, he would have been a nice multiple inning guy for the BP.

$9M is a lot though. Wonder if the Nats will use him in the rotation or pen.

For that price they just be hoping he will be a starter

Colon is Legend! Now go re-read what I said, you can jump in the basket while we're at it. I sent you an offer in LOD ya missed.

I know you've been going on about him all offsason, but does he have untapped potential? He's entering his age 29 season and has had one year with an xFIP below 4.72. His statcast page is frosty blue. He as projected to get $5.1M in arbitration and the Braves, who are seemingly short on rotation depth - nontendered him. If AA didn't want him, given their paper thin rotation, for me, that's a sign.

I don't see anyway the Jays could have added him now unless they'd decided to essentially abandon the rotation and wanted to spend all their money on offense/bullpen.

That's a good gamble to take

Cost seems a bit high.. for a HUGE gamble.

Yeah

AA is really good at knowing when to let guys go

Probably demonstrated in both cases being discussed on this page actually

Indeed. I liked him as an option for the pen, but not at that price. Can't blame Atkins for passing IMO.

9.85 K/9 and 1.8 fWAR in 24 games (22 starts) during the 2023 season.

Again, just said he would be a decent back of the rotation arm who could be had for cheap. At $4M, that's not a bad signing at all. He's nothing flashy but gives the Jays rotation some depth at least and allows them to try Y-Rod in the pen, which is an area that is of significant concern. Maybe Pete Walker untaps something with him. I don't know man. Can't even have a baseball discussion with you since you come across as an arrogant prick as always!

I doubt Atkins was even in on him lol.

We already have back of the rotation guys. If we are capitulation to having a mid team I'd rather just blow it completely up. The middle of the pack is the absolute worst place to be and this team with additions like that given the needs we have would basically be the definition of mid. I guess if it's like a 1-year deal you can always flip him at the deadline if things go well, you could make that argument. But generally I think we need to pick a more concrete path.

Show me the rest, lmao...

9.85 K/9 and a 2.55 BB/9 is pretty decent. 4.32 ERA, 4.29 FIP and 3.82 xFIP as well.

Damn, those numbers aren't much different than what Bassitt did this past season and we're paying him $21M instead of $4M.

When you suggest other FA names, Jays don't have the money to sign them. Though when you suggest names that could come cheap and who you might get some value out of, they suck and the Jays shouldn't sign them. So then who do the Jays sign?

Sure, I want the Jays to sign a better arm than Griffin Canning lol, but if payroll is tight and they need to spend money in other areas such as the lineup or bullpen, leaves very little for the rotation.

If someone in the Jays rotation gets injured, who is next in line? Depth is important as well. If Canning didn't pan out, you either DFA him after 5 or 6 starts or move him to the pen. Who knows, maybe out of the pen he becomes the next Luke Weaver.

Jesus...you take a fun loving post about something comical and turn it into that. Do you really want to talk about how YOU'RE viewed on the board? Never seen someone known as a drunk on a damn message board that mods feel sorry for. They don't ban you because they know you have nothing else going for you and are scared what you'd do to yourself lol.

So anyways, if Kirk/Vladdy/Manoah all performed close to their top levels consistently then it wouldn't get brought up as much. When you go from MVP/allstar/cy young calibre to dog s*** then obviously people are going to point at their conditioning as a reason why their performance has fallen off. It's really not hard to see...

GARBAGE... his career has been s***, Bassitt runs circles around him , meat.
