Need a younger, left handed, Justin Turner. I wonder what Pittsburgh would want for Spencer Horwitz. I guess this should have been formulated as part of a three player trade, but maybe Jays didn't even know Horwitz was going to Pittsburgh? Maybe Jays had a thought they'd sign another DH.

Wagner and Loperfido for Howritz? Pittsburgh gets two players with more defensive versatility and similar ceiling, Jays get a bat that has more of a track record, a DH for 2025, and possible Vlad replacement for 2026.

Why would they trade back for Howritz? Are you being serious?

Who is the DH and backup/2026 first basemen? Howritz projects to be 2 WAR in 110 games, better per game than Teoscar who is projected 2.5 in 150

Howritz is projected to be Nathaniel Lowe. Would you take Lowe if he was available?

Morosi says Giants will probably get Burnes, which means Burnes will sign anywhere but there lol.

"One of the frontrunners, perhaps the frontrunner" means you know nothing loll.

I've been in the rumors game for awhile and learned not to trust anything Morosi says, he tends to conflate information with speculation.

How, pray tell, can a player be good, cheap, and not cost much?

Manaea might just be really good now

At this point I will take anything. Big trade, big signing, selling Vlad, I don't even care. Just do stuff and I dont mean sign another Justin Turner in two months.

Luzardo is coming off an injury plagued season and even before never really has reached his full potential. He only has two years remaining and is arbitration eligible meaning he's going to get more expensive for the Marlins. He's also 27 already, with a bit of a spotty health record to date, so doubt he's part of the Marlins long term plans. I don't think he'll cost that much via trade as other arms would since its the Marlins. Would be a nice high upside arm to roll the dice on.

I like Manaea but do you really want to give him a contract upwards of $75M over the next three years? Looks like his ceiling is just 3 WAR at most. Luzardo offers way more upside.

This front office steers clear of guys like Luzardo, the answer is in your post.

This front office sometimes needs to take risks and be open minded like they were back in 2020/2021, when they traded for Ray and signed Semien.

Statcast has new baserunning metrics out

Jays are 2nd to last with only the Yankees being worse. It's pretty incredible that the best fielding team is also the (almost) worst baserunning team.

I don't disagree, I'm just saying it hasn't been their MO for several years now.

Wowzers, lmao.

Vladdy alone makes up -6 of the team's total -14 total and is 189th out of.... 189 qualified hitters. That's impressively bad baserunning!

There really wasn't much risk in either of those deals. Robbie Ray for a nothing prospect and a one-year prove-it contract. Only upside with those deals, very little downside.

Absolute dumbest base runner I've ever seen in my entire life. Doesn't care enough to ever change and plays for a limp dick organization that would never punish him for it.

He bleeds a lot of value in other areas it's frustrating.

What in the hell

I clicked through to their website, and I still have no idea how this is supposed to work. From what I can tell:

- He's sold them 3% of his future earnings.

- I don't know what they paid him for it. But they're trying to sell 300,000 "shares" at $12.00 a piece. So $3.6M. Presumably he gets most of that.

- If Cleveland picks up his two options he'll make $30.5M through 2028. 3% of that is 915K. He'll be 30 in his age-28 season.

- He'd need to make 89.5M at 31+ for Finlete "investors" to break even on the 3.6M they've raised.

But it's not at all clear how shareholders would get paid, because they don't actually have any details on their site. My guess is Clase walks away with a couple million, Finlete scams a few hundred K from idiots, and everyone else loses money.

How does 6.4 K/9 in Japan translate to America?

Imagine being Rutschman or Henderson and your team's opening day rotation has Dean Kremer, Albert Suarez, and a 35-year old shitballer who couldn't strike people out in Japan. And not even because a bunch of injuries hit in spring - this was the actual offseason plan.

Im so glad the Orioles are continuing to fumble taking the next step and wasting prime years of Gunnar/Rutsch. And instead of just signing free agents, they’re making trades like the Burnes trade which is going to slowly deplete the farm if they continue on.

They’re like, 1 step away from being a legit super-team but they’re just refusing to sign any legit top-tier free agents to address the rotation.

The eventual Henderson trade is going to hit like crack.
