Yeah, Teo signed for 1/23.5 last season (granted, deferred AAV is lower than that), and then proceeded to have a much better season in 2024. I think it will take at least $25m AAV to sign him. That's probably why the Dodgers are balking. They don't need him that much. The Jays do. Whether Atkins would go 4/100 is anyone's guess, but if the alternative is f'n Santander on a 5-6 year deal, then give Teo whatever the hell he wants for 4 years.

Agreed.

Think about the money this franchise could have saved if they signed Teo last year and Vlad to an extension before Soto signed. The money saved there probably could have almost paid Bo just with that lol.

Yeah

He was what - the Dodgers 5th best hitter?

He'd be our 2nd best instantly

We also traded him and indirectly blamed him/Gurriel for the lack of a serious clubhouse as to why we weren't doing better. Then the Jays didn't want to give him a better deal last year after a down season when they of all teams should know what he's capable of.

I want Teo more than most here as I was mentioning all last off-season to go get him. I truly think he will make the Jays severely overpay for him to choose us over the Dodgers. This time he's the one with leverage and I'm sure he'll use all of it.

All good points

There's a price for all that

Plus he just won a World Series. That was probably pretty nice. LOL

Tony Salamander on a 6 year deal would be nuts. But if the options are Teo for 4 (age 32-35 seasons) or Salamander for 5 (age 30-34), I might take Salamander.

He's younger and for a team that is desperate for power, he provides more of it. Plus, he's a switch hitter and Teo is another righty. Teo is a better base runner, but the defense is actually much closer than you think. Salamander beats him in some of the metrics over the years.

Which team is now under the most pressure to do something big after the meetings?

Castillo: The Toronto Blue Jays have money to spend and they want to spend it, but they just can't get anyone to take it.

That's a sign amongst players talking in their circles about the future of the Blue Jays with Vladdy and Bo not signed and that the management is not very good to deal with period either in too much micro managing or players themselves don't feel comfortable there in the current environment.

My buddy said to me the othe rday. like Christ how are the Jays going to attract any big name free agents when they have not signed their own two core players to long term contracts?? Shows no faith to the rest of the free agents watching!!! Stupid f***ing move by Atkins and Sharpiro not to have Vladdy locked up and this will absolutely bite them in the f***ing ass as he heads to free agency. In both of their minds it has been obvious they don't value Vladdy at his dollar value he is asking but they will find out what he is worth in free agency and what other teams are willing to pay!

We will hear all the ******** from these two suits next fall and say we tried but Vladdy decides to go elsewhere. I personally believe Rogers Board of Directors needs to oust these two clowns if Vladdy a home grown product that loves Toronto walks via free agency! Both these pricks need some accountability at their feet and that has been the problem since day one! Make a f***ing winner after 9 years or now your OUT!!!

If this FO had already signed Vlad and Bo to huge monster extensions worth hundreds of millions of dollars combined, guys like you would the loudest bitching about it non stop after Vlad put up 1.3 WAR in 2023 and Bo put up 0.3 War in 2024. Maybe the problem isn't just the FO, maybe part of the problem is that the two main core players aren't consistently good enough to build around, and maybe the right thing to do is reload after 2025.

For Cortes and a nothing prospect. Jeff Blair was suggesting we deal Bo straight up for him

The prospect was one of the better bats in the AFL. I wouldn’t say nothing…

Caleb Durbin definitely isn’t a nothing prospect. Probably similar value to Will Wagner

Not in the Yankees top 30 prospects, anyways. He's pretty old and not a very good defender. Looks like a classic AAAA player to me, kind of like a current Cavan Biggio.

He was the AFL breakout player of the year. Boone calls him an absolute stud with great bat to ball skills. It is thought that the Yankees were comfortable with shipping Torres out because they thought Durbin could stick at 2b in 2025.

I like that for Milwaukee. Cortes is a very solid SP3 projected to make less than 8M in arb and Durbin is an interesting MLB-ready depth piece who should contribute to Milwaukee this year.

This is the most Brewers trade ever. Trade one year of an elite reliever who they can and will replace internally (Megill) for cheap, for a 3 WAR SP and an unheralded infielder who projects well, while getting money back in the process. Williams is also coming off an injury riddled season. Naturally, the Yankees love having an elite bullpen and are trading from a position of strength.

Yes, that's just it, position of strength helps both clubs, but bigly for the Brew Crew. Yanks get a nice piece for a WS run.

Dammit... Williams would have been GREAT for us.

He would’ve fit right in, blowing the lead in our first potential playoff win up 4-2 in the 9th.
