The fact that it was so targeted towards the fans makes me think he's hinting at some type of media role? If it was in a coach or FO capacity I feel like he would've kept that more under wraps.

 

On the other hand, I'm cracking up at the thought of KK as a coach teaching the non Varsho outfielders. "What do you mean you couldn't perfectly read the ball off the bat in a millisecond and immediately burst into your 100th percentile sprint speed to run down the ball like a robot?"

Wasn't it KK who talked about the next level scouting reports and game plans from the Dodgers? If I'm the Jays, I think I look to hire him to improve those aspects. He can help out with the MLB team and prospects as well.

Last straw for Atkins but we keep repeating this statement for naught as we as fans still getting forcefed of the sight and sounds of Ross having to make the toughest decisions for this team, ops should I say….the dumbest decisions for this team.

 

If they are keeping Vladdy, find players who are more offensively inclined to protect him. They plugged in Chapman and Varsho in the line up and both were the most frustrating bats Blue Jays ever had. Defensive gloves are nice and dandy but FFS, they will not move the needle when it’s all said and done. One trick ponies are garbage players. Dime in a dozen.

 

They also have to address the weight of fat ass Kirk as their starting catcher. I still can’t get over the fact that they hang on to tubby Kirk but traded the young Moreno.

Kirk is roughly equal to Moreno. You can hate his weight, and I'm not sure I'd want to bet on him as he gets deeper into his free agent years, but he's a lot more valuable than people give him credit for. He's a legit starting catcher.

 

IMO we absolutely need 2 legit big bats. Maybe not Soto big, but well above average. Ideally it would be LF and 3rd (or possibly 1st if we're sure Vladdy can handle 3rd full time), with Clement sliding into a super utility role.

I think Atkins greatest failing as a GM might be not having an extension in place for Vlad. His hard hit percentage, bat speed, contact rates in 22 and 23 were there. He just needed a little less chase and needed to start elevating the ball. It was just a matter of time. It's entirely possible Vlad has a monster year this year. If he has an OPS higher than Soto this year there are going to be 3 teams that were willing to spend 600+ million on Soto this year that didn't get him. What is Vlad getting next year? The Royals locked up Witt Jr. You lock up your stars. The Jays management didn't believe in Vlad. They could have had him at 27 mil a season if they'd just given him 12 or 13 years in 23.
