I'd take Burger boy and Jizz from Miami in a heartbeat.

Acquiring Chisholm works in multiple ways as it would make Mattingly's head explode and maybe Donnie would resign immediately after.

Starting to feel like 85 wins I predicted for season was high.

The comparisons from a couple we heard very early on in '23 of this team to 2017, I just couldn't fathom.

Becoming eerily prescient at this point.

I thought 87 and squeak into the playoffs somehow. We so .500 right now. 81 wins may be it.

The right move for this organization come trade deadline would be a full fire sale but I have no expectation that Rogers would permit that after the cost of renovations and their need for a return on that investment.

We’re up against the cap with no clear path to improving this offense and a “generational talent” that can’t seem to hit anything but singles.

Tear it down to the studs and maybe the Jays can be the exciting and up and coming team again within 2-3 years. Tinker on the edges of the roster and we’re looking at more of this brand of baseball.

Perhaps this front office has to move on. We need a paradigm shift.

Mark to Alex: You left the cupboard bare by makeing the playoff run and the most exciting Jays second half since 1993.

Fans to Mark: You have been here 9 years, the cupboard is bare, the baseball is boring and you stink.

Without a doubt, they should not be in charge of this rebuild/retool.

When Shapiro and Atkins took over their sales pitch was heavily centered on creating an organization that is a sustainable “winner” with waves of talent to supplement the roster.

Almost 10 years later and there have been no “waves of talent” of note, the MLB product is painfully boring and not in contention, and the highly touted investment in “state of the art” training and development facilities in Dunedin has yet to show any tangible results.

They’ve failed at everything they set out to do, except for renovating the dome.

Needs to resign tonight. The Nimalla failure is the final straw. Not that every 18 year old should hit the road running. But in 10 years ONE should. Nimalla was the last chance for the fans to have some hope. And still might be Paul Dejong in 2032, but that is not what we were promised. Were promised pipellines of exciting players and there are none.

It is 4:34. Schedule Shapiro resignation news conference for 7:00.

Wonder if something could be done with Vlad or Bo for Jazz? Jazz has an extra year of control I believe and would be a FA for 2027.

The Jays are 26th in MLB for draft pick WAR over the last 10 years - and pretty much all of our WAR has been from Manoah.

Our much hyped core has somehow all regressed substantially during what should be their prime and the farm is now near the bottom for top specs.

What has happened during this tenure to drafting and development? It has been an absolutely s*** show.

I will say that it is way too early to make a conclusion on Nimmala. He is also 3 yrs younger than average for A ball.

If you could create some stat that reflected 'development' of all types including major league maintenance of young players that have a good year or two the Jays would be historically bad.

For every player in the system under 27 give points for every time they take a step forward and take points if they take a step back. So you'd get points for developing Vlad and Bo to where they were in 2021, but lose points for un-developing them. Like maybe make some normal aging curve, and team loses points when the player is below the curve (for under 27).

Go back 12 years and you basically have that because you'd have it all covered. First 6 years of team control + 6 years of minor league development so that even the slowest of prospects is caught in the sample.

Only thing missing would be the development of players acquired through trade or free agent signing.

The Jays f***ing suck. Reese Autkins needs to take a hike.

Logically that makes sense, but emotionally I want something that reflects Vlad/Bo/Manoah/Kirk going 20 -15 - 5 - 0 in WAR.

So if they go 10-10-10-10 you get more points than 20-15-5-0, like something that accounts for the emotional damage of buying Vlad Guerrero Jersey (175 bucks Canadian), Vlad Guerrero rookie card ($60 bucks Canadian), season tickets to see Vlad Guerrero bombs ($15,000) and then getting nothing for your $15235). That's like a months rent in this inflated economy wasted.

I'm there since last off season.

Not delivering on the hype & promises on drafting and development that they made in 2016-17 ensures I that don't want them in charge for the next critical phase of decision making. At a minimum, Ross needs to move on. He has had his chance and a good run overall.

The off season we had wasn't great IMO, but the paramount reason I would like to see change in leadership is ^ above. We need fresh, objective and more clinical eyeballs on our current state, and the big decisions in the windshield.

With our big payroll, and a GTA plus national audience, this team could be a juggernaut franchise. But the foundation of a "sustainable winner" is D & D.

Would be easy to do just compare talent to the known aging curves for WAR

Wouldn't each draft slot have an average career WAR? Then you could compare it to actual career WAR. If a player's 27+ you can probably assume 0 WAR

love Jazz but for those that haven't seen his home run trot - it might not go over well if they think Vlady's was too much

How bad is the Blue Jays offense? The Blue Jays currently have a slugging % of .289 with RISP. If they keep this up, that'll be the 7th worst in the history of baseball, and the worst in 56 years.

Obviously they will and you’re an idiot for thinking they won’t. It’s just a matter of if they’ll come around enough.

It will come around some. Part of the problem can be the players and Part of the problem can be top to bottom piss poor coaching. Players become part of the environment. They never invested in coaching etc.

Extremely sad that in the past 5 years since he started in Atlanta "bare cupboard AA" drafted Michael Harris, Spencer Strider and Bryce Elder who have more than doubled the total WAR produced by Jays drafts in the same time period. If you give the Jays the 2018 and 2017 drafts to add on, it is literally just half the production, and significant chunks of that are from like Ryan Noda and Riley Adams who we traded away. It's basically Manoah and Davish Schneider in the past 7 drafts who are our controllable young guys that have come up and that is unbelievably bad.

Cannot be overstated how mediocre the 2022 draft looks as well at this point. That could have been a restocking that allowed us to deal for a guy like Soto but Atkins failed hard.

AA used Langeliers, Cusick and Estes from his drafts to help get Matt Olson as well.

And even after all the players that have come up and trades they've made to add they also have some top notch pitching prospects to restock with now with Waldrep and Owen Murphy.

Turns out having a bare cupboard is fine if you know where the grocery store is
