Am I the only one who wants to see a re-build? Guerrero sucks. Bichette’s value is not going to be higher and he’s a BABIP player. Baserunning already declining. Pitching is good but not sustainable with the age and contracts. You could still go hard after Yamamoto since he’s 25, I guess. Am I dumb for thinking this?

Would Cody welcome playing LF since there's no chance he'd play CF over Varsho? He'd be a great addition but that contract scares me. He should be getting close to what we paid for Springer. Wishful thinking, I know lol.

Wonder if the Dodgers are open to trading Max Muncy now that they need DH AB's entirely open for Ohtani. Otherwise, not sure it makes sense for him to play 3B everyday?

 

He's quite obviously declined from his heyday, but honestly not that much worse than that whats out there in the free agent market at this point.

Yea Muncy is a bit of a hack at 3B, but they just extended him to a nice contract, there was talk to move him back to 2b but I doubt that's happening since Roberts announced Mookie as the everyday 2B

We shouldn't trade both, and if we trade one, should only be for a star player that will stay long term with the jays. So blockbuster trade package for someone like Luis Robert Jr or Mike Trout. But no for guys like Bregman or Isaac Paredes:lol So a trade like Manoah or Tidermann with prospects and Varsho for Trout or Robert Jr. Then sign Soler and Justin Turner , also try get Yamamoto.

No, a mini rebuild might be the play. But it’s not realistic. Atkins can’t do that for his own survival

No one's friggin rebuilding when they've poured 500M or whatever into the new stadium. They need that stadium filled to capacity for several years to make all this worth it.

 

Even if there weren't any renovations, I've been critical of this team more than most but there is no way this team should be rebuilding until they start missing the playoffs with a healthy squad. It's not easy to build teams to the point we're at now so we can tear it all down when we actually start to suck...

Yeah I like it. Minus Chapman. Probably end up going the trade route. Also might think about putting Bellinger in RF and moving Springer to LF depending on who has the better arm.

They're not going to rebuild when they've got one of the best pitching staffs in baseball.

 

I can see them retooling next off season by trading Bo and Vlad with 1 year of control left.

I'm ready to take the contract risk on Yelich. His K rate is trending in the right direction. His statcast page still looks pretty good. Burnes and Yelich for Varsho and Manoah. Sign JD Martinez. Sign one of Soler, Hernandez, Bellinger depending on how much money you want to spend.

Who plays enter field in this scenario? It appears as though Yelich has been converted to full time left field so unless Bellinger is signed this still leaves a sizable hole on the roster.

Except Varsho is even more of a dead pull hitter, just doesn’t have a kids power. Varsho trying no to go the other way last season was attempted and failed horribly.

 

Guys like Whit, Espinal etc, those are the guys who should be looking the other way since they really don’t have pull power.

The tweeters are saying that Cody Bellinger is visiting Toronto and is about to sign on the dotted line for a 10 year 450 million dollar contract but it's payable over 75 years so according to the luxury tax it's like he signed for 3 million a year, that leaves room to also give 10 year 550 million dollar contract to Blake Snell and a 10 year 475 million dollar contract to Josh Hader. This is truly an MLB landscape changing trio of deals which in terms of total impact is much better than signing just Ohtani. When these deals are signed Jays will trade Manoah and a few other to the White Sox for their best players. All this has been confirmed by J.P. Morosi and @JeffPassan450, @JeffPassan751, and @therealJeffPassan on twitter and Instagram. Dodgers Nation is also reporting the Jays have signed Yamamoto to a 650 million dollar contract.
