Sounds like you have a talented son if he’s playing that level of ball in Alberta.

Is AAA in Alberta better than AAA in Ontario (honest question).

I think its a toss up depending on the year and crop. Every year is different. BC is always strong.

Interesting. I knew BC was always strong. My oldest son is U13 this year. I understand this is the only age group that has "Nationals" and thus all the best AAA teams in Ontario (errr maybe just the ones in the GTA) stack up to win this year. Teams combine, or take the best players off weaker AAA teams in an attempt to win OBA and then go to Nationals. Because of this, we dropped down to AA this year (as we're in Barrie and thus aren't one of the teams adding players). We've gone from a .500 (or just below) AAA team to mercying every team we've played so far this year in AA. We're off to the States this weekend to get our asses handed to us though, so that will be an eye opener.

Enjoy the ride BigCecil - goes by fast. Luckily I have 2 more younger boys coming up through the rep program. Had our first U8 AAA tournament this weekend. So much fun to watch those little guys, but you need so much patience!

Interesting. Playing the USA teams is always humbling. My son went to a "Perfect Game" in Scottsdale this year. He pitched to a couple kids on Team USA who were 14 etc. He did better than I thought. Almost struck one out. Had him at 2 strikes and he popped out to 2B on a CB lol. In 15U AAA the adjustment to wooden bats is big. Not joking when I say that I saw at that Perfect Game there were kids who hit the ball over 400 feet with metal bats in the USA who really struggled there to adjust.

I enjoy it but man is it stressful. Lost a walk off on Saturday and we blew a 5-2 lead in final 7th inning yesterday to lose again. Tough car ride home from Edmonton.

My daughter is 6 as I'm a GrampDad and she is now playing coach pitch. I dont have the energy I used to! I coached for years but I dont know if i have it in me again.

I don't believe so, when I played against American teams, that's when you would see the difference in quality at that age, their so further ahead than Canadian ballplayers for obvious climate issues, that's why BC are strong year after year.

Based on sheer volume of players I would say no. But the top end is equal. Team AB can definitely hang with team ON on a given year.

BC, AB, ON and QB are perennial powerhouses. SK has had good showings at the Canada Cup recently.

Thanks man. He played 13U AAA (lost provincial championship final game - d-oh!) and now 15U AAA Tier 1 now for the 2nd year.

Not a great pitcher and fielder. Just ok. Plays 1B, 2B and OF. But he is a LHH who hits somewhere in the 3rd to 5th hole. Thats his best tool.

If he’s going to play University you should think of the junior college route. If he can get into a good one in the Midwest (Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas) he could have a D1 chance. Obviously this is without knowing him but it’s better than accepting the first s***** four year that will take him. Two developmental years for Canadians is huge.

@ArdenZwelling

Chad Green (Tommy John rehab) is throwing live batting practice today at Blue Jays player development facility in Dunedin

Hyun Jin Ryu (TJ rehab) is also scheduled for a side session today in Dunedin

Positive signs for both as they target returns this summer

Looks then Like Ryu is slightly ahead of Green in his comeback. maybe a week or so as he was throwing bullpens last week. Not like a week is a massive difference at the end of the day but ... i'm actually looking forward to skinny Ryu.

Dude, Ryu's a starter, Green will be back way before him.

The proper f***ing statement is "Thank you Laika, for taking time out of your busy day to attempt to moderate what we know will be a sensitive subject".

The moderation team has a lot of experience with threads becoming shitshows. When one side posts, there is a group that will never be able to show restraint when responding (almost all of them made it to this topic). Now you can bring your current Jays talk to the GDT (where I don't give a s*** if it is a cesspool). This thread will be closed until I can scrub it of everything but Hagen Danner posts

I apologize if anyone felt the moderation team chose a side. Everyone knows what side I am on this subject because I used to not show restraint as well. By the time I realized I wasn't helping matters, the board had it's life sucked out of it. Then I had to have my employer receive a message that I run a messageboard that makes them feel unsafe. We really do have good baseball content. Things like today, cross lines into other aspects of life. Again we are trying to be as free as possible in the content we have here. Keep it baseball and beat the Brewers.

That’s f***ing insane and extremely pathetic, can’t believe some ******* did that to you. Hope whoever it was has been banned for good.

Thanks for trying to keep this place sane

I’m fine with keeping the discussions strictly Baseball/Blue Jays related. But we live in a world where we are constantly walking on egg shells and it’s frustrating. It’s pouring over into sports and it’s going to pour into sports discussion. People use these words like inclusion, safe spaces, and acceptance. But I have never felt more foreign, uncomfortable, and out of place in this world as I do now. That could be me problem I don’t know.

All I'll ask, is this the world we want to live in? You're the fans. Even if you want Bass hung for posting someone else's content, do you think these standards will never apply to some of the things you agree with?

Yeah I agree keeping this board to just baseball and Blue Jays related discussion, though like you said politics are pouring into sports a lot more these days which will pour into some sports discussion on here. It's kind of inevitable.

If you find yourself in a pickle, just remember the golden rule: never apologize.

Well the standard is a business cost vs benefits assessment. If the combination of Bass' performance and his off field stuff is on balance negative to the Jays org, he will be cut. If not, he will be retained.

I don't think anyone of you will argue against "the invisible hand" as the basis of deciding Bass' fate.

I have to think that's how people in minority groups felt for decades, before people were willing to start acknowledging how poorly they were treated by society.

Its fine to apologize when you realize you were being an ass, but don’t apologize for stupid s*** if you don’t mean it.

Personally I hate it. I don't want to know any players politics, preferences or habits -- NONE OF MY BUSINESS. Only interested in can they get outs, get hits or whatever. Bass should not be forced to say anything and to be honest it sounded awful. The only thing the Jays should be celebrating is Toronto Blue Jay fans. That being said I fully expect Bass to be sent off, and not because of his abilities. And my views of the Jays will only go down.

Except he made it everyone’s business by posting on his public social media account.
