Funny the narratives shift from Armageddon to plan the parade. We have had one fake playoff game blowout loss in his tenure, missed playoffs by a gm last year and there are still 6 weeks of dogfight ahead in '22 because we didnt bank enough W's early on. He made some deadline moves and some seem to be working out well so far. Bravo. Would have been brain dead not to make some adds.

Lets see how it goes. Fingers crossed we make it in and get hot at the right time. Lets hope the rotation and pen keep rolling. One game at a time. Been a nice 7-3 stretch. This road trip travel will be a bit of a challenge. Late night last night.

You're forgetting an ALCS appearance.

2016 was still AA's team. Atkins started Dec '15. If you look at the roster/moves between then and the end of '16, you have to squint really hard from the Atkins fanboy seats to give him much, if any, credit for the '16 run. At that time they were still figuring out where the Executive washrooms were in the offices. In any case AA was still trying to run the team until they were able to jettison him, when he went on to even better things.

Yesterdays start by White was brutal. Two 4 inning decent outings and one bad one.

If he is right this would be a hell of a move.

By right you mean healthy. I assume? According to Boras he is close *Conforto is progressing towards full hitting activity in September.*... if he passes a physical, Toronto should offer him 20-22M for this season and next. Don't have to move anyone and kick the 5th OF of choice to the curb. Jay's were a frontrunner on him and still are according to Heyman and Bowden along with multiple other teams.

ETA...

Naturally, Conforto is now garnering more interest, per Jon Heyman of the New York Post. Heyman speaks to Boras, who says that he got four phone calls about Conforto after the draft and that “there is very strong interest by some very good teams.”

When asked to list the teams that were interested, Boras said “They’re all in the United States except one,” hinting that the Blue Jays are one of the teams at the table. The involvement of the Jays isn’t terribly surprising, given that they had previous interest in the offseason as part of their desire to add left-handed hitting. Around the same time that the news of Conforto’s injury came out, the Jays acquired a different lefty bat in Raimel Tapia. Since Tapia has hit .275/.300/.388 this season for a wRC+ of 91, or 9% below league average, it stands to reason that Toronto still thinks they can upgrade in that department.

Cool. He isn't vaccinated according to a bunch of pundits I've heard. Mind you Merrifield wasn't either...until he was. (please don't anyone start the vaxx debate)

True, but if that were really an issue, I doubt they'd still be talking to Boras, I don't buy it. Now I'm frothing at the mouth for this guy, lol. It would help this team immensely. I'm thinking 20/22M is an overpay coming off a down season in '21 and missing most of this season his value likely gotten hurt quite a bit, but that'd have him inking with us, I believe, what do you think?

Dumbtoyo rubbed off on him.

I've seen very little difference between Charlie and Schneider other than moving Bo down in the order. Everything else seems to be status quo for the most part. Still better than having Charlie around, but definitely seems like the Jays (like most teams nowadays) manage from the front office down.

Man. Don't know if anyone is watching this recap of the 92 World Series. Such nostalgia for me. Awesome. Crazily I remember so much of the plays like yesterday. I so want Jays fans to get the feeling again a lot of us were so lucky to experience...back to back.

should put Bradley in CF, Spring RF?

I agree, though RF will be making longer throws to 3B and the Angels would likely take advantage of that if it was Springer there.

Fully healthy Springer should be in RF

Time to stop reliving the past and win another.

Agreed. This team needs to start winning, and in the playoffs. Time for talk is over.

$20-22M for one year of Conforto? You're nuts!

the blue jays remain utterly unwatchable

even when they win these days it's pure agony

If we miss the playoffs, Shapiro needs to step up and bring in a real GM. I like Schneider but hopefully we get a makeover on bench coaching. The fact that Ross was given a five year deal prior to this season might actually make it easier on Shapiro to let him go with that kind of a parachute. We can only hope..

Missing the playoffs would be brutal, especially with the extra WC, but I wouldn't be overreacting and firing anyone just yet.

There was some pretty big career years last season, but now this season some of the players might be having abnormally unproductive seasons, and nobody on the roster is having a surprisingly "good" season save for maybe Gausman, but even he has been unlucky as hell when it comes to final results. Vlad at 2.9 fWAR? Bo at 2.3 fWAR? Berrios at 0.5 fWAR?

The team is set up for a 2 year run as it is right now (with some off season tweaking). I'd let that play out and hope that the players can make the necessary adjustments, along with a couple of tweaks on the roster that will hopefully vault them to legit contender level.

If they haven't found success after the 2023 season, then I'd be looking to make some major changes from top to bottom.

This team is Jekyll and Hyde on a pitch to pitch, PA to PA, game to game and series to series basis. Sweep Boston in Fenway, then about to get swept by the Angels at home?

They’re the weirdest group of hitters too. Like, on fire or ice cold, nothing in between.

The ironic thing is that Montoyo would probably have been a great bench coach... But he wouldn't have moved from Tampa to have the same role.

Ross Atkins and this FO is the best though. Every decision they make, is the correct one. Even if they miss the playoffs, it's bad luck but the computers say this team can be a World Series contender again next season! No need to spend money on the last couple of roster spots like on the bench and in the bullpen just because!

Bring back Gibby!

#1 for the offseason is learn basic hitting to all fields. Can't be utterly dominated by command pitchers and pitchers with offspeed pitches over and over with ease

Honestly as hot and cold and inconsistent this team has been i don't think we deserve playoffs . We will probably make it because of the expanded playoffs. Quick exit is likely though.

Fire Atkins, beg Gibby to come back.

I don’t give a s*** if Shapiro turns Rogers Center into PNC Park if this team never makes a serious run at a WS
