I just read an article on the Score that ranked these hats. Jays were like 25th or something. Top ones were the M's, Marlins and TB. I tend to agree.

Is this one of the best body transformations in MLB history? He was genuinely headed towards the Ortiz/Fielder body. And every bit of credit to him he decided he wasn't going to let it happen and absolutely dedicated himself to improving. Given how easy it was for him to balloon, it's a lot of work to maintain what he's done. It would be fun to see him at third and give us a shot at signing Freeman.

The 3B free agent market stinks and Jose Ramirez may not even be available in a trade (especially if expanded playoffs becomes a thing). Moving Vlad back to 3B and either trying to sign Freeman or trade for Olson might be superior options at this point, although that means competing with the Yankees, Dodgers, and Braves for those two players so it won't be cheap.

Matt Chapman is the answer

Fixed it.

I don't think he's an answer for any time. I wouldn't give him more than a minor league deal.

I sure hope not.

Hypothetically though, which would you prefer to lose in trade if they did end up getting Ramirez; Moreno or Orelvis? No way a trade gets done without 1 of them for sure.

We could really use some left handed bats. Are there any options on the trade market that bat left?

I'm sure San Diego would be willing to part with Hosmer - but for very good reason.

His profile is interesting in that he still hits the ball very hard, he just beats it into the ground way too much, like 60% ground ball rate. If he was capable of making a swing change he'd probably end up having a few good years.

And no, not advocating a trade for him, his contract is FUGLY and there's no way to bank on a change being made that makes him useful.

Jeff McNeil is available. Can play 2b/3b and LF. Quality bat and results from 2021 dont really match the underlying numbers. Decent bounce back candidate but not like all-star calibre or anything. Just solid.

Probably Orelvis as of today...but I think Moreno is more expendable in this organization with Jansen and Kirk as young viable options already. There's no one currently blocking Orelvis at 3B and even if they trade for one, it's likely a short term solution. But you're right, it would take one or the other to make a deal happen.

I wouldn't mind someone like him, good suggestion.

McNeil or Moose (in a deal where we get one of their starters on the cheap) would both be solid fits. Lefty bats who are short term solutions until Orelvis/Groshans (or even Moreno) take over 3rd long term. I firmly believe we're only looking for short term solutions at this point. Perhaps that could also be Vlad...
