Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2021 Posted May 9, 2021 Hopefully the casuals can stop talking about bringing Manoah up asap now. These guys need reps in the minors for a reason It's exactly what I was saying to start the thread. People are always green on prospects. You cannot mark anyone in your rotation who has not proven it on this stage. We're gonna have to make a move very soon or our season will be a wash.
Jgarza868899 Verified Member Posted May 9, 2021 Posted May 9, 2021 Why are they playing the infield in? It's the third inning. Every run is crucial with the great Greinke on the mound

Slyfisher Verified Member Posted May 9, 2021 Posted May 9, 2021 Looks like Tellez brought his struggles at the plate onto the field.. He should be kept in AAA to figure s*** out.. I know, injuries
Jgarza868899 Verified Member Posted May 9, 2021 Posted May 9, 2021 Then you don't know what is wrong. There no kinks. Its a pitcher who lost his balls every time he comes up to the majors This.

43211234 Verified Member Posted May 9, 2021 Posted May 9, 2021 Yikes. I think he still makes his next start in the majors but that was ugly.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 9, 2021 Posted May 9, 2021 Dammit Not the Pearson start we wanted
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2021 Posted May 9, 2021 Why not see what Manoah is capable of? They aren't the same person... Because as I said.... these guys need reps in the minors
bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2021 Posted May 9, 2021 I would say there was actually zero good takeaways from this game for Nate. Everything looked awful.

JFD Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2021 Posted May 9, 2021 Because as I said.... these guys need reps in the minors Just because Pearson has the yips doesn't mean Manoah will. Worth a look
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2021 Posted May 9, 2021 Wow! You don't think we need to address our starting pitching? We have 2 good starters right now and a wild card in Matz. If you think we can go the whole season with this rotation and be a contender then I completely disagree. Also, it is highly unlikely our bullpen will trend how they have been for 162 games considering most are unknown scrubs and will be worn out by then
Slyfisher Verified Member Posted May 9, 2021 Posted May 9, 2021 It would be really nice if we could hit on a prospect pitcher who makes it to the majors and dominates!
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted May 9, 2021 Posted May 9, 2021 Because as I said.... these guys need reps in the minors No. There is no point in them owning the minors. The issue isn't in the minors its in the majors. Nothing in the minors can fix that. He needs MLB reps
DigitalRock Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2021 Posted May 9, 2021 Huh? He was so scared that he couldn't hit McGuire's glove? I mean he never had control issues until the majors...anxiety can really mess with you, what else would it be?
Jgarza868899 Verified Member Posted May 9, 2021 Posted May 9, 2021 Just because Pearson has the yips doesn't mean Manoah will. Worth a look Yep.
Scion Verified Member Posted May 9, 2021 Posted May 9, 2021 We are fortunate to only be down 3, but now we need the bats to wake up.

saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2021 Posted May 9, 2021 Just because Pearson has the yips doesn't mean Manoah will. Worth a look He needs to trust his stuff. His command was off, just set your sights over the middle of the plate and attack. Good learning experience. He needs to go through mental ups and downs. Pearson just needs to pitch. I look forward to his next start. As far as the Manoah vs Pearson thing. I hope Manoah is better than Pearson, because Pearson is going to be very good. It's not like we only have room for one or the other. There's room for both of them in this rotation.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted May 9, 2021 Posted May 9, 2021 Huh? He was so scared that he couldn't hit McGuire's glove? He has admitted to trying to nibble on the corners not wanting to throw over the plate to MLB hitters, not trusting his stuff. He said it caused the issues last year and in ST this year. In the minors he just throws strikes cause he knows his stuff can't be hit. He is pitching scared in the majors again. Only thing to fix that is to pitch in the majors
King Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2021 Posted May 9, 2021 I mean he never had control issues until the majors...anxiety can really mess with you, what else would it be? While I agree it's likely mental I don't know if this is entirely true. A lot of higher end pitchers can get by in the minors with overpowering stuff and posting low walk rates. Look at Jose Berrios when he first came up. The command issues sometimes don't present themselves until the highest level. His stuff was garbage today. His fastball was 93-98 and had 20 command and he didn't get any whiffs on his slider or changeup. This was very discouraging start.

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2021 Posted May 9, 2021 He didn't appear to reinjure himself at least. It's the small things, lol. Healthy and the stuff looks great, fugly line though.
