gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2021 Posted March 26, 2021 Would that means Vladdy plays a bit of 3B pushing Biggio to the OF? If need be it, sure.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2021 Posted March 26, 2021 I really don't think that we should gloss over what a weird f***ing name "Cullen Large" is.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2021 Posted March 26, 2021 Is it conceivable in possibly seeing a Manoah pre September start this year?
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2021 Posted March 26, 2021 Tyler White does not want this game to end... 8 pitch AB. So far.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2021 Posted March 26, 2021 Is it conceivable in possibly seeing a Manoah pre September start this year? June 1 sounds about right!...lol. It's a shame the minor league season is delayed. If Manoah is killing it and we have some injuries in the summer, I would not be adverse to Manoah skipping AAA and coming to the bigs.
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 26, 2021 Posted March 26, 2021 Is it conceivable in possibly seeing a Manoah pre September start this year? I'd say yes. Possible but unlikely
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2021 Posted March 26, 2021 Man - it certainly looked like Manoah is ready to contribute right now.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2021 Posted March 26, 2021 I suspect we see both Manoah and SWR up at some point. Will be a wonky season, with pitch restrictions, more injuries than usual, pop up guys all over the place. A lot of pitching debuts that wouldn't normally happen.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2021 Posted March 26, 2021 Man, Palacios and Warmoth are having excellent springs. I wonder what are the odds that Warmoth makes the team out of ST as the utility man. Has he played the infield at all? Gotta think we definitely see Palacios at some point this season, maybe not right away, if an injury occurs in the outfield.

Imagine as early as next yr a staff of Ryu, Pearson, Manoah, SWR and...... = giddy-up!

I'd venture that Warmoth needs to first prove that he can put up results in games that actually count for something before we anoint him as the major league utility man. It's nice to see that he might be resurrecting a career that looked to be quickly swirling down the toilet. I'd also like to see if Kevin Smith can start to tame down his strikeout issues a bit, I think there's enough tools otherwise (good raw power, good arm and glove, decent speed) that he too could turn himself into a good utility man.
Ryu In My House Verified Member Posted March 26, 2021 Posted March 26, 2021 Is it conceivable in possibly seeing a Manoah pre September start this year? SWR, too. Dan Shulman on Twitter said he would be figured he would be up on 2022, or late 2021 if things happen.

Sign a decent vet SP and we could have a really great starting 5.

Will be a wonky season, with pitch restrictions, more injuries than usual, pop up guys all over the place. A lot of pitching debuts that wouldn't normally happen. And everyone is a year older, and a year stronger, with a year of high performance simulated training instead of minor league games. No one has any idea how that will play. There will probably be a lot of surprises, guys up way before we thought, and a lot of disappointments, guys who couldn't handle the year off, or weren't destined to be able to handle the high minors, and we start finding out this year.

I've said this before, it's going to be a carousel of players up and down this season.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2021 Posted March 26, 2021 Glad SN picked this game up, I mean why not, they're there? I'm assuming we see Ray pitch tonight?
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 26, 2021 Posted March 26, 2021 Glad SN picked this game up, I mean why not, they're there? I'm assuming we see Ray pitch tonight? I think he's missing at least one start with his bruised elbow thing
Ex Player Verified Member Posted March 26, 2021 Posted March 26, 2021 Ryu starts tonight. First pitch 6:37pm

The odds of Warmoth making the team out of ST is 0.0% lol. He's had 19 ABs mostly against pitchers who won't be on major league rosters and he has 7 Ks in those ABs. Palacios on the other hand has started a lot more games and has faced better pitching. I feel pretty good having Palacios as a depth piece. Both Palacios and Davis are having fantastic springs.

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2021 Posted March 26, 2021 Its so nice to have a legit shortstop like Semien ready to shift positions for when Bichette inevitably gets injured. Semien - SS Biggio - 2B Vlad - 3B Tellez - 1B For when Bichette is injured. Could even roll with Lourdes at 1B and Grich/Springer/Teo in the OF. Hoping the Springer injury isn’t too serious

Hoping the Springer injury isn’t too serious If second half of 2020 Panik is the guy that shows up this year he makes a pretty decent infield utility option as well, we just have to hope Charlie doesn't play him nearly everyday again despite having multiple better options available this season. In his last 24 games Panik put up a reasonable 114 WRC+ and 0.5 FWAR. Of course there's every chance this might be the results he obtains during an unsustainable hot streak though and most of the time he's the same replacement level player seen in 2018/2019.

Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2021 Posted March 26, 2021 Both Palacios and Davis are having fantastic springs. Espinal has had a monster spring as well, as far as fringe guys go.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2021 Posted March 26, 2021 Espinal has had a monster spring as well, as far as fringe guys go. Right, I thought he earned that 26 man roster spot? Meh, we'll see him sooner or later.
max silver Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2021 Posted March 26, 2021 Right, I thought he earned that 26 man roster spot? Meh, we'll see him sooner or later. I think the idea is to stash Espinal as depth for when the inevitable injuries hit. Panik had an opt-out so there's a bit of asset management at play here as well as Espinal still has options remaining.
