The answer might be "he never had to try very hard until he experienced his first failures at the major league level"

Unfortunately probably the case. Certainly doesn't know how to read the room and have much of an appreciation of historical what not to do after he Shhsssssssedd the Yankees fanbase after hitting a HR in a game we were down by like 8.

For those of you who do not have access to U.S media other than the few big ones. Vlad was absolutely roasted for that and not just by the Yankees' media and fanbase.

Its ok when Soto does it though right…

I don't give a f*** about any celi's or home run trots, go have a look at Chisholm Jr.'s home run trot ...he litterally puts on a show with a fake jump shot as he rounds 1st, a camera selfie at 2nd, a stutter step rounding 3rd then euro shuffle as he crosses home plate - he does this on every home run. People getting bent out of shape over a hop and a shhhh lol

Vladdy is a little boy playing in his sandbox, he will never grow up.

I don't think anyone cares about celebrating a home run, but shushing the crowd when your team is behind by a touchdown isn't a great look.

A little situational awareness would be nice.

Holy s*** you mother f***ers complaining about Vladdy, atleast stick to whats f***ing correct, hes not shushing the crowd you morons, hes not directing it at the yankee fans, he does it at home too you dipshits, its to the people who called him overrated and a bust after 2019 and 2020. Sure but it's just like the ice bath thing.

He has a 74 IQ so he fails to appreciate how these things look in context. You've been dogshit for over a year, maybe stop shushing anybody until you are good again. You may know you are shushing your theoretical haters, but you are still literally performing the shush gesture to the Yankee stadium crowd when your team is getting blown out.

Nobody likes your ice baths, maybe stop. He doesn't get it because he has a little itty bitty stegosauras brain.

The dude had like 7 kids at 22 years old. He's not a smart man.

It’s not the fact he did it. We were down biggly. Not appropriate for the situation, regardless of who they were playing.

It is apparent you have no idea the situation and context I am referring to.

You do that s*** when you hit a tying or go ahead or winning hit or HR. Not when your team is down 7, 8 runs late and it is the first and only run you have scored.

Situational awareness.

Is this true? But he is a huge bust, so what's he shhhhh'ing now?

Vlad crushed the ball today.

I have it on good authority that Don Mattingly has found the backup tape from his 1985 MVP season (the footage was long thought to have been lost forever after a NYC warehouse fire in the late 1980s) and they have been watching the highlights together.

Everyone here better be very careful because I am keeping a watchful eye on this thread. Just saying.

Yep, Vladdy was gripping and ripping it tonight.

The month of May might just turn into a month where HR Derby Vladdy shows up!

Just bumping this thread because of the irony of Vlad now being a kind of acceptable player because he is hitting Spencer Horwitz's projections basically.

Blue Jays Message Board Geniuses - 'no power bro'.

Reality based math - A 'no power bro' 1b men hitting .270 .360 .390 with OK 1b defense is 2-3 WAR

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. - Hitting .270 .360 .390 on track for 15 homers. On track for 2.5 WAR because walk rate and defense are better then other years.

I love the EVs and contact, but if Vlad has to rely too much on BABIP and bashing worm burners through holes he is capped for $20m. Maybe how well he is seeing the ball starts to translate into more extra bases.

bat him lead-off

It's not a terrible idea. He does get on base, he doesn't steal, in fact he'll probably run himself into some outs. But he's not really hitting for power so we don't really miss that aspect of his bat in the heart of the lineup.

Then have Schneider and Jano somewhere between 2 and 4. At least we can start looking forward to the top of the order from time to time because it's been slim pickings.

This will also save some money. He earns what? 21 million. If he gets 75 rbis instead of 90 maybe it save 1 million or arb.

Arb salary formula based on

a*(Performance in year 3 of career) + b*(number rbizzzzzzzzzzzz last year)

nothing can be done about the first factor, but can lower second.

Forget arbitration, we need some trade value from this guy.
