I think this is a key comment (and one of the few Brownie has ever made). If the goal is to get to over 40 team fWAR (Boston and NY Mets were the only teams over 40 last season and did not make the playoffs and Brewers at 37.1 were the lowest playoff team), is the core we currently have assured of at least doubling the 2019 total (11.5 for the offense), just by being together for a full season. Then on top of that you have to find the pitching

I'm pretty confident that the infield will be a playoff calibre group for some time, but the outfield can't combine for 1.6 WAR again. We're stuck with Grichuk for better or for worse and Gurriel looks like a keeper, but bringing in a real CF should be a priority. I want no part of Hernandez, Alford, Fisher, McKinney, or Davis getting significant at-bats again.

Definitely need a 1B (since Vlad won't move there yet) and CF/RF (wherever Grichuk doesn't play). I think the offensive core is solid as is, as I expect Jansen to bounce back with the bat, and Vlad's offensive explosion will be glorious when it happens, but still missing a few parts.

I've obviously overestimated my contributions to the board.

people deserve 2nd chances. Brandon Taubman in, Atkins out...and bring Cole with you while you're at it.

He might trade Giles for Osuna tho! He seems to love that guy!

I wouldnt have a problem with it if it brought back a top prospect. That would actually be a pretty funny timeline. Especially if hector Perez ever becomes anything

so what would it take to pry Kluber out of Cleveland?

Probably not that much as Cleveland will be looking to cut payroll again. Doesn't matter though, with just 2 years of control there is no chance we give up any prospects for him.

Jays DFA'd Dull and claimed Anthony Bass on waivers.

Bass is out of options, and was actually serviceable this year. Wouldn't be surprising to see him stick through the offseason.

If Vladimir Guerrero JR, doesn't have a long term swing mechanic issue, that should be 4 WAR right there... If Jansen's babip rebounds and Mcguire's doesn't regress too much that's another couple of WAR. If Biggio and Bichette play 150 games... that's another 3 or 4. If Gurriel can keep healthy another WAR or 2.

I guess it's quite easy to see a scenario where Vlad, Bo, Biggio Gurriel and the catchers have 15+ WAR... then even without other upgrades you get close to the 20....

On the other hand if Vlad has a long term ground ball issue, Gurriel can't keep healthy, the Catcher's can't hit at all, it goes the other way.

I understand wanting to take a chance on a Warren type but he's a slider pitcher now. The change has zero value when it's barely slower than the fastball. Swinging strike rate is still there but most just are laying off his pitches out of the zone. Maybe I'd take a chance if someone sees something specific he's doing wrong. In the end just grab some guy throwing 100

I'd be interested in giving Adam Warren a look. Last year looks like a blip.

Warren had TJS in September and is out all of 2020. Are you guys talking about 2021?

Yeah he doesn't look bad to me. Projected to make 1.7M in arbitration is what I read.

Don't know what his contract demands are going to be, but I hope we're in on Yoshitomo. Lefty with power and decent OBP.

We have a history of being aggressive so ya, I have all the confidence in the world that we'll be in on him.

Rays still want to make room on the 40. Giles for two or three of their guys on the 40 or need to be protected. Beeks, Aguilar and Garrett Whitley.

This sounds like a terrible idea. We need at least one of the pieces coming back for Giles to be as close as possible to a sure thing, preferably in an area of need.

Like this list a lot. Would add Bumgarner and probably take out Edwin.

I'd sign Wheeler, Gibson and Odorizzi at those prices.
