  1. We just traded back for SWR. Just a spot start?
  2. Can we just tell the Umps to ignore him all the time please'?
  3. I know they are all relievers and volatile but those 4 Jays have 3.1 WAR and the others have a total of 1. So it may it not be sustainable but it seems to be working for the time being.
  4. I think the fact that this game isn't on MLB.TV is a big issue. I'd be watching if it was on there. Following on Gameday just isn't the same.
  5. I saw this and even though it has nothing to do with next years ball club I thought I would share because I think it it funny. https://web.archive.org/web/20150904011048/http://articles.chicagotribune.com/1993-01-28/sports/9303173083_1_angel-manager-buck-rodgers-junior-felix-florida-marlins
  6. Thank you for your service for both your 9 to 9 job and here. Much appreciated!
  7. I do think if we get him it probably closes the door on Vlad and Bo extensions although I don't know if those doors are already pretty much closed. I'd be pumped to get the unicorn regardless.
  8. I live in Philly so this game is blacked out. Anyone have a link?
  9. I'm fine with the decision. Lopez is the better option in my opinion but to start the season I'd rather he actually play instead of sitting on the bench. Unless we come out of the gate running I'd rather have him when we are playing meaningful games later in the season and Lukes can be sent to Buffalo.
  10. Richard Urena signed with the York Revolution of the Atlantic League. That's a name I haven't heard in a while.
  11. Him and his brother were really big busts.
  12. I like the fact that it seems we got some really promising guys signed and we seem to have some really good luck with getting talent this way. Hopefully the luck continues and it' great that these kids want to sign with us.
  13. Yeah this place is totally turning gay so in about 45 days we can rank the Jays in order of hotness.
  14. Back when I was in my early teens my town didn't have a little league team but we did have a fairly well funded "Rec Center" league. It was a building that was basically a private YMCA on steroids. My coach the two years I played (12 and 13 years old) told us to go out there and have fun and he and the other coaches who were volunteers taught us the fundamentals of the game and how to get better through patience and practice. I remember Chuck had three rules: 1) if you step out of the box while swinging it was 10 pushups, 2) if you let a ball go through your legs, 10 pushups, and 3) if you want to fight a teammate you both have to carry a 5 gallon bucket filled with sand around the field and then you can fight afterwards. In my opinion youth sports shouldn't be about winning it should be about developing people. Less than 1% of the population will be professional players so why act like actually winning a regional baseball tournament when you're 13 actually matters? We were a very good team both years I played and the second season we won the league championship, but I still remember a game where Chuck lost his cool on an umpire (volunteer dad asked before the game) calling balls and strikes and after the game he took the field to apologize to everyone for his behavior. Unless you're on a high school team youth sports should be about learning, getting better, having fun, learning teamwork and how to be a part of a team. Just my two cents.
  15. The last thing you said is what I'm thinking. I'm thinking the front office is thinking about getting some money ready to add at the deadline when we see what needs to be addressed a little more clearly.
  16. You still would have been blessed. #Blessedup
  17. I think the issue is we will have to adapt the Hottest Blue Jays contest where someone they all hate is now number 1
  18. I hope Shatkins are looking into Cody and Alex Reyes.
  19. I could actually see that. They are competing and Jano won't be super expensive.
  20. I'm starting to think that Olerud363 is actually John Olerud. If that is the case I want to personally thank him. So a few years ago there was a company that would collect late 80s and early 90s baseball cards (essentially worthless ones) and repack them into packs of like 20 to sell at Dollar Tree stores. Once you got I believe 3 pack wrappers you could mail it in and they would send you a signed card. I would ask politely for a Blue Jay autograph and after I got my Garth Iorg autographed card I got one of John Olerud that apparently he had made specifically for mail in autograph requests. I think that's worth at least 3 WAR towards his HOF career.
  21. This may be unpopular but I'd keep all 3 and try Gabby at a few more positions to give him versatility. He signed as an infielder so I'm assuming he spent most of his baseball life playing there and could probably play a passable corner outfield spot. Edit: But I do think the front office moves one and I'd guess Jansen.
  22. If I recall correctly no one was really devastated when Romano was taken in the Rule 5 draft he was just viewed as an average middle reliever. I hate when saves are blown and we lose the game but he went from a Rule 5 return to a pitcher many view as an elite back end pitcher. Everyone has bad games.
