The guy he hit forgave him. He's got a contract that says if he drinks again he loses his contract. If he does things now, I think people should be judged by how they work with their mistakes, he's got a chance to put himself in a teaching role, and says he is going to take that opportunity. So I don't see it the same as you. I'm okay with the people hating him, but I wish people would stop calling him crazy.

I guess my issue with this is:

1. This isn't a one time thing for Bush. He's been a douchebag his entire life, proving over and over again that he's unable to be a productive part of society. The hit and run with jail time obviously is his "worst" offense to date and thus perhaps that will be the life changing movement. How many chances does he need?

2. I think it's ridiculous he only had to spend 3 years in jail for what he did. That of course isn't his fault, but I think he should still be a prison wolf getting his prison pocket worked over.

I'll still take Jose's knockout punch Game 5 dinger off Dyson over Odor's bat flip sucker punch any day.

Someone is throwing at Odor next time these teams play. By then maybe Bautista is playing 1B (if we can resign him) and is waiting to crack him in the chin when he gets to first.

So can we get a summary of who all got hit? Martin got taken down/punched? Dyson got punched by the bullpen catcher?

- Bautista decked by Odor

- Pillar flaring toward Odor and looking like spiderman

- Donaldson decked Odor Brock Lesnar style

- Dyson decked Martin Lesnar style

- BP catcher popped Dyson I think in the mouth

Pretty sure Statcast has Pillar covering the most range but with a 32% route efficiency.

That's the problem. The next time we play Bautista probably is on a different team as will be Edwin. There will still be bad blood, but enough to keep it going?

I hope we play the Rangers in the playoffs, and Bautista hits a series winning walkoff homerun and f***ing chucks his bat right in the Rangers dugout, does the DX crotch chop as he's crossing home plate, and calls them gutless in the post game interview.

What playoffs would that be?

Bautista has said that he didn't even realize what he was doing when he flipped that bat. It was heat of the moment and not anything meant to show up the other team considering he hardly registered doing it. I believe him, I've done things while excited that I didn't think about and didn't realize. That should have been enough to put this to rest, but no they have to carry on this childish nonsense half a year later. Continue to vilify, hope it improves your life somehow.

Odor's late slide & exact same shove/punch combo when he was in A ball:

No doubt a thug, but you got to admire the way the guy handles himself. If I'm in a fight,I'd want him on my side.

I think there was more to it than just the bat flip. That postseason series was intense as hell, we formed a legitimate rivalry and these teams don't like each other. Yes the retaliation hit on Bautista was late but still expected, no? This doesn't end anything, even without Bats these teams are not going to like each other next year either. Donaldson, Pillar, Martin, they won't forget everything.

No, I don't f***ing admire how he handles himself. That video link shows he walked in to the 2nd baseman, he circled back, he wanted confrontation, he wanted to throw down just like he did last night. He's an *******, just because you can throw a punch doesn't mean you should throw a punch. There are sports for that and doing it in baseball makes you look classless as hell. I admire how Beltre handled things, not Odor.

I'm going to have to google "Brock Lesnar" style, as I'm not [insert WWE joke] and thus aren't up to date on the finishing moves of the WWE stars...However - thanks for the update. Is there a good clean video showing all this?

I was wrong should've wrote Goldberg Spear style. It's been a while for me too, brain fart.

Nah... I'm pretty sure he grasped the rule and violated it on purpose this time.

admitting he did it as a statement probably won't help him.

Odor: 10 (Barrett got 10, Odor probably deserves the same)

Bush: 0

Bautista: 1 (For the slide. It clearly violated the new rule but this time last year and no one really bats an eye. He didn't even cause any damage. He honestly could get 0 though for mitigating factors. The guy was beaned, pushed and punched and didn't even ball up a fist (could be because his bell was rung so he didn't have a chance to but still.)

Donaldson: 1 (For the running jump attack.)

Pillar: 2 (He threw a lot of punches.)

Chavez: 3 (RP's get banned for 3 games for something like this right? Or is it one?)

Gibbons: 1

I think something like that? The Rangers coaching staff could get some as well. Seemed like Bannister was the one waiving his arms trying to get the crowd fired up right? Pretty ridiculous. Then there was that other assistant. I need to watch it again.

Is there any footage of the Rangers bench and/or bullpen when Jose steps to the plate vs. Bush? I'm curious if they all knew this was about to go down...

How does Jeff Bannister face his children? He's an embarrassment to mankind.

Which is why it was so chicken s*** of the Rangers to do it the way they did it. Whether the Jays we'll want to pursue this next year we'll probably depend entirely on whether Donaldson still has lingering bitterness towards Odor and others. It will be essentially be "his team" next year and he does have a somewhat Bautista like edge to him.

Anyone think Chavez threw at Fielder by someone else's call? It looked like Martin was ready for rnd 2 and called that inside fastball. Chavez just did his job and walked out without any confrontation which tells me he was just doing the job he was told to do.

What exactly do we admire Beltre for, holding a guy who made no effort to break free?

I dont think either HBP was the pitcher's idea.

Yeah this is probably close to the real outcome

Yeah these guys are such little crybabies. They harbored such ill feelings over a batflip that they wait until the very last chance to bean Bautista. I hope they find the punch worth it because Odor is about to get 10 games but we won the series last year and we won the season series 4-3 this year. Would be cool to face them in the playoffs again.

I'd argue he protected Bautista there and he also never threw a punch or wanted to jump in. He could have leveled Bats if he wanted to be that guy instead he tried to de-escalate the situation and I think Odor would have dropped him otherwise.

Chavez has been pitching enough to know the HBP was called for.

Yeah Beltre was fine. He's one of the few Rangers I like. I'd prefer he calm down his own guy though, the one throwing haymakers.

Chavez knew exactly what he was going to do. He didn't need to be told although it's possible someone did tell him anyway.

I'm sure Matt Bush was told though. He's brand new and not entirely aware of the history.

I'm convinced Bautista was quite relieved someone was holding him.

Bautista owes heroes like Donaldson and Pillar a huge thank you.

I wonder if Bautista being a repeat offender will factor in. He seems unable to grasp the new rules.

Is there anything documented on how to deal with repeat slide offenders? My thinking was that Bautista's slide resulted in the desired reprimand; the runner going to first called out, regardless of the outcome of the throw. I haven't seen anywhere where there is the expectation by the league that there would be a need to escalate how to deal with bad sliders.
