Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 Entertaining game but what's kind of lost in this is what a horrible loss that was. The Jays had every chance to blow that game open with Texas pretty much begging them to do it with their sloppy play and the Jays just can't execute situational hitting. I also don't like Chavez being used in late game, high leverage bullpen spots. Is Cecil out of commission right now or something? You realize that Chavez has been our best reliever, right?
glory Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 Bautista doesn't know how to fight is what I got out of this. The moment Odor pushed him he should have been ready for something. I guess when staring disapprovingly at someone doesn't work, he has no counter. Not a good look, Jose. Odor is a scumbag but don't let him punk you out like that. I guess Jose wasn't expecting a punch, and most athlete punches on the field don't connect, but man, that will be a meme forever now. Regardless, Odor is a ********, Bautista is hated by everyone except the Jays/Jays fans, and the Jays lose another freakin series.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 Bush faced Bautista down 5 runs on Friday. If he wanted to "endear" himself to his teammates he would have done it then. And alcoholic and crazy are not the same thing. it was ordered by the manager or team mates talked it up so much that he simply felt he had to. I doubt he came to the park thinking he'd make friends if he threw at Jose.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 He's pretty lucky Odor missed. Not sure leaping face first at a couple dudes is sound fighting strategy. It will definitely score points with the ladies, though.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 Bush's story is not compelling at all. He does not deserve any respect for what he's done in the past (a second chance is fine but not a heart warming story). Regardless, that was obviously Bannister's call, IMO. They waited until his last AB for a reason.
BTS Community Moderator Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 Just now seeing the video of the punch. Bautista will be a meme until the end of time. He's had this coming for awhile.
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 You realize that Chavez has been our best reliever, right? A 4.95 FIP is the best we have now? Osuna and Floyd are clearly our best relievers.
Cyborg Verified Member Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 You realize that Chavez has been our best reliever, right? Girodo has the best xFIP then Floyd, Osuna, and Chavez are all close.

I believe the incompetent umpires feel that way too. Umpires are supposed to intervene when a scrum happens. This time the ump watched Odor clock Bautista and instead of breaking them up he just walked away as soon as the punch was landed. I thought that was VERY strange behavior from the ump. The ump threw Bautista to the wolves, luckily Beltre stepped in. They don't like him either it seems.

How many punches like that have you seen on the ML diamond over the past 100 years? suggesting Jose should have been ready for it is a little off IMO.

If sucker punches like that become the new retribution standard for a pimp; a heavy slide; or a beaning....then players will be dropping all over the diamond. It rarely, if ever, happened before for a good reason.

glory Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 OHow many punches like that have you seen on the ML diamond over the past 100 years? suggesting Jose should have been ready for it is a little off IMO. Not in baseball, but just in general. I'm not suggesting that I'm an MMA fighter or anything, but if someone shoved me, I'd be prepared for something beyond that. It looked like Bautista expected the typical athlete "hold me back man!" fight where no one lands anything and bravado is only shown when the player is restrained, but that doesn't mean he should have taken it for granted like that. If someone shoves you, be prepared. If the punch came before the shove, then I'd look at it differently. It's cruel irony that one meme (bat flip) will now turn into another (punch in the face). I loved the bat flip, but fans hate Bautista like we hate Machado, Ventura, etc. what can you do?
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 It's about the bat flip. It's not about Bautista being a jerk. It's about the Rangers blowing the series and channeling their frustration on the most convenient scapegoat. It's ********. 7 months later to boot... *smh*

R they about 2 lose yet another series or what? Marty York @MartyYork 5h5 hours ago Is Bautista an absolute disgrace to humanity or what? Marty York @MartyYork 5h5 hours ago @ajw_bassist I guess Bautista had it coming? Dirty, disgraceful and, oh yes, lousy. Marty York @MartyYork 4h4 hours ago @ajw_bassist tell me, r the homer broadcasters defending that useless Bautista or r they being honest for once? #bautista'sadisgrace Marty York @MartyYork 4h4 hours ago R Jays below. 500 yet again? Has Gibbons been fired yet? Marty York @MartyYork 4h4 hours ago I abhor violence. I don't even watch it in sports. But if anyone had it coming, it was Bautista. Marty York @MartyYork 4h4 hours ago As I said, I loathe violence. But am I right in suggesting that, if anyone deserved it in MLB, it was that disgraceful Bautista character? Marty York @MartyYork 4h4 hours ago Bautista put his entire team in a bad situation with that dumb bat flip. His illegal slides don't help. His cockiness + arrogance contribute Marty York @MartyYork 4h4 hours ago Bautista is dumb, malicious and evil. He does not help his team and brawls do nothing. Jays r a bad team. Below. 500 yet again. #jaysawful Marty York @MartyYork 4h4 hours ago This is bautista's fault, pure + simple. He is an absolute disgrace. He's prob going 2 get suspended. Not that Jays will miss him or his bat Marty York @MartyYork 4h4 hours ago Ok, let's make this perfectly clear: no stupid brawl can make a team win. Only talent can. And the Blow Jays are devoid of much talent. Marty York @MartyYork 4h4 hours ago @argiesviews Bautista is all talk and show and bat flips. I wonder who'd even WANT to take him off Jays' hands at trade-deadline time. #seeu Marty York @MartyYork 4h4 hours ago I have a hunch Gibbons has managed his last game for Jays. Has lost complete control. Team below .500 again. Can't catch Orioles, Bosox. Marty York @MartyYork 4h4 hours ago Why does Bautista cheat so much when he slides into second base? Dirty. Disgusting. Despicable. #Iwouldsuspendhimfor10games #timetoheal Marty York @MartyYork 4h4 hours ago Anyone who says "we" when referring 2 a team is a loser. Understand this: u r not part of the team u worship. U merely spend ur $ on it. Marty York @MartyYork 4h4 hours ago I applaud and respect Odor of Texas. And I usually detest violence. But Bautista was trying to hurt him. Bautista enjoys hurting people. Marty York @MartyYork 3h3 hours ago Zero respect for Stroman. Never have and never will. #knownuserofPEDs #overrated #wouldbeaNo.4or5onmostteams Marty York @MartyYork 3h3 hours ago I would definitely rather have Odor on my team than any whining Blue Jay (heck, even that weird 1st-base coach was ejected for whining 2day) Marty York @MartyYork 3h3 hours ago And the Raptors are whiners, too. Especially that Lowery guy. #cavsinfour Wow... this clown was a professional sports writer and is on the BBWAA?!?! Embarrassing.

Umpires obviously hate him because he keeps showing them up. He certainly didn't help matters by going public with his demands in spring training for no reason, giving the perception that he's greedy/delusional with his contract expectations (though he has every right to want as much $ as he can get). We just have to accept that he's hated. If he wasn't a Jay, we might be right there with everyone else. He's still one of my all time favorites though.

It rarely, if ever, happened before for a good reason. I wouldn't call it a sucker punch since he'd already declared his intentions by laying his hands on Jose. Once that happens then it's a fight. The reason we don't often see punches like that is probably because most conflicts happen between a batter and a pitcher and there's usually enough distance between them for it to get broken up. With the new rule changes we might actually see more face to face battles on the bases.
ValiantJaysFan Verified Member Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 I hope we play the Rangers in the playoffs, and Bautista hits a series winning walkoff homerun and f***ing chucks his bat right in the Rangers dugout, does the DX crotch chop as he's crossing home plate, and calls them gutless in the post game interview.

TheHurl Site Manager Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 I'd be truly sad and embarrassed to be a Rangers fan today. What the f***, all because the guy hit a massive home run and tossed his bat, man up you bitches. It was sad enough listening to Dyson whine about it after the game last year, but Christ, move on losers. You lost. Walk it off, f*** some bitches, cry in your locker, punch a wall, but have some f***ing dignity! If Osuna gave up a three run home run for the ages I'd be disgusted to hear him whine about it after. So pathetic. Plus, I think Admin said if Tulo levelled Machado under same circumstances we'd all be cheering about it. I disagree, I'd be disgraced. come on now. Jays fans were calling for ARod to be plunked in the head after the Howie Clark incident. Good players always incite the most reaction from opposing fans. There are professional players who are saying Bautista "deserved" to get hit. Rangers fans won't be embarrassed, they are proud, just like most Jays fans would be. The players involved will get suspended as they deserve to be and we'll probably keep talking about it for a while.

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 Can't really blame Bush for a decision that probably wasn't his. Sure he could have decided not to listen to his manager and go back to the minors, maybe never to be seen again... my post had nothing to do with what Matt Bush did on the field. It's him as a human being...
