Trouba95 Old-Timey Member Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 Josh Donaldson filed at 11.8M, jays 11.35M Wow, only 450k...
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 Josh Donaldson filed at 11.8M, jays 11.35M Pretty reasonable. Let's hammer out a long term deal now.
Zaun of the Dead Verified Member Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 hahahaha if they go to arbitration over 450 k that will be f***ing hilarious
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 'Tis but a scratch But you have no arms! It's just a flesh wound! I'm going to watch this later tonight now, ya fekkers!
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 That does not mean you have to give him 3.9 Million... Or you lose him.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 hahahaha if they go to arbitration over 450 k that will be f***ing hilarious Why?
glory Old-Timey Member Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 Apparently the Jays did not want to go over what Chris Davis got in arbitration ($7.05M), which is a record, but damn that's a small amount to fight over. Chavez wants $4m and the Jays offered $3.6m. Either way that's way below MLBTR's projection.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 Seems dumb to haggle with Donaldson over 450K when you just gave Smoak at least 450K too much. It's simply a process, and Donaldson has eluded to that in the past and expected this. There won't be any hard feelings when he's awarded 12 million, regardless.
DerangedIdoit Verified Member Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 The final payroll seems like it will be ~$140m. If you believe the $145m self imposed cap that leaves $5m. One would have to assume that some of that will be going to a legitimate Backup catcher.

Shapiro is smart enough to know that the solid D is what matters, not 100 at-bats or whatever. Finding some additional depth would be nice, however.

Navarro signed with the CWS, and Flowers with the Braves. Wilin Rosario might not be a horrible option, and should come cheap.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 Navarro signed with the CWS, and Flowers with the Braves. Notice that I used past tense. I know they signed.
DerangedIdoit Verified Member Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 Navarro signed with the CWS, and Flowers with the Braves.thats depends on yo Wilin Rosario might not be a horrible option, and should come cheap. He will probably be looking for a starting job and that depends on your definition of cheap. He might get $3m+.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 Why would you give him 12 million when he filed for less? The arbitrator, it's happened in the past. (IIRC)
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 The arbitrator, it's happened in the past. (IIRC) what?
DerangedIdoit Verified Member Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 The arbitrator comes up with their own evaluation of a players worth without any outside influences irregardless of figures requested,
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 The arbitrator, it's happened in the past. (IIRC) That's interesting, I wonder why. I was under the impression that they only had 2 choices.
BigRed Verified Member Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 The arbitrator, it's happened in the past. (IIRC) When? Do you have an example? AFAIK the arbitrator picks either the value the player submitted, or the value the team submitted. No in between, no other values.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 The arbitrator comes up with their own evaluation of a players worth without any outside influences irregardless of figures requested, This isn't a word.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 f*** this front office is aids. Giving broken down Saunders 2.9M. Useless Delabar 850k. But taking Donaldson to arbitration over 450k. Get the f*** out. Honestly it's embarrassing.

DerangedIdoit Verified Member Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 This isn't a word. It's in the dictionary so technically it's a word. The prefix is redundant but it has a certain rhythm to it.

I thought the same folks if I'm not mistaken a team or 3 has been burned in this process with the player making more than the amount issued by the club.
