KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 I think that's obvious at this point. Move one or both and payroll would have to move up. Just out of curiosity I wonder what Martin would be worth on the trade market (not saying it makes any sense to move him). Does he has NTC or 10/5 rights? don't think so. Martin would probably be the hardest player to replace on the entire roster. Of course, I realize you're just asking out of curiosity but I thought I'd get it out of the way.
Ehjays Verified Member Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Yep. There's also the possibility that Tulo has one of his elite type seasons in 2016 and raises his trade value substantially. If that happens, maybe we can bring back a Top 50 shortstop prospect in his package. Whats wrong with Tulo having one of his elite type seasons to help the Jays win......f*** boosting trade values. We are in a win now mode.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Fangraphs projected standings have the Jays going 84-78, third in AL East, tied with Seattle for the 2nd wildcard http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/an-early-look-at-the-projected-standings/ http://www.fangraphs.com/depthcharts.aspx?position=Standings What a joke. Roster's not fully set yet, and they're predicting the Royals to be under .500.. perhaps KC should show FanGraphs their World Series rings from last year.. this prediction system isn't reliable. And I don't see Boston coming close to 92 wins--those predictions don't reflect injuries, regression, etc.

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 I don't like our rotation. I don't like Boston's either--those ERA predictions are far too optimistic, knowing the Red Sox.. their ERAs will be MUCH higher when Sandoval and HanRam bobble and throw balls away at 3B and 1B, and Pedroia continues to decline. And who knows what the OF will be, considering Bradley and Castillo have question marks.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Sign they both and trade Tulo That would be idiotic to say the least
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 We're sixth or seven worse in terms of total runs allowed according to Fangraphs
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Defnitely don't want to make any of these kind of trades now when it could be the last Bautista/EE year. Killer lineup, two lights out relievers and a serviceable rotation could take the Jays very far. Oh yeah, I wouldn't even consider it this off-season, unless the return was outstanding, which I doubt it would be coming off a down year.

Down year for whom ? What would you consider as outstanding ? Would Batz Dickey and Dickey's pet monkey( catcher) plus 4-8 mill to the Diamondbacks for: Patrick Corbin, Silvio Bracho, Braden Shipley, Alex Young and Sam McWilliams be outstanding ? Or what where you thinking ?

THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 Wonder what kinds of question Bob will pose... Should be juicy. Bob's been bashing Shapiro on air for awhile now, so it will be interesting to say the least. I expect questions about Edwin/Bautista, the Budget, and if there will be any more additions to the BP/SR. I expect Shapiro to give political answers that dance around all of Bob's topics. Personally, I wish he asked Shapiro if there would be a change in pitching development philosophies to produce more peripherally sound pitchers like in the Cleveland system. I would also ask if they plan on reverting Osuna back into a starter and when. Unfortunately, I doubt the average listener wants to hear the answers to my questions
rydermike Verified Member Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 Donaldson, Storen, Chavez, Cecil, Saunders, loup, Hutchinson, and delabar officially file for arbitration as expectedhttp://i.tsn.ca/mobile/StoryXML.aspx?id=570277

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 I'd like to know if they plan on talking extensions with Stroman and Donaldson this offseason.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 January 15: Deadline for teams and eligible players to file salary figures for arbitration.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 So we should know soon (today) if we able to avoid arb with our guys? Worried about Donaldson and Cecil especially I haven't looked over the Indians track record of avoiding arbitration. AA certainly did almost all the time.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Wouldn't Shapiro love to announce a 7 year contract extension for Donaldson to this grouchy fanbase though...

I wish we would have extended Cecil when he was not one of THE best relievers in baseball. Probably lost our chance to do it for anything reasonable $ wise. Whats 7 years for extending JD going to cost for? $155mm minimum? Bit of a rush when you have control for 3 more years but it could make sense. He is going to get paid in arb.
