Halladay is talking about when the culprit actually started taking steroids. When you decide you need to take steroids and act on it you're over, plain and simple. Second who knows how long he was actually taking roids. His JAWS is completely compromised. To get into the hall of fame you need a long and storied career. When most of it can be called into question sorry bud it's up to our conscience. As well doesn't the hall of fame say you have to have strong character and pretty much be a role model or along the lines of that? The Committee has to change that and give Ty Cobb a VIP room before any of this happens,
There were reports that Mike Ilitch wanted to go for it while he was still alive (so pretty much this year). There were reports that the Tigers were looking for another OF/superstar. Al Avila said he wasn't looking for more high priced free agents. If he was he wouldn't confirm anyways. Not a total surprise as far as I am concerned
Now that we traded Revere I kind of wished we signed Gentry or Nava. Both signed dirt cheap and can provide some of what Revere took with him. Don't think Junior Lake will cut it and don't get me started on Carerra.
Apparently the Astros are hot on his trail. Imagine facing that rotation in the playoffs. Keuchel, Gallardo, McCullers and McHugh. Keuchels an ace, Gallardo is a jays killer and we all know how good MnM can be.
I'm still iffy on the Chavez trade. We could have kept Hendriks and sign a guy like Carlos Villanueva (for dirt cheap mind you). We all know how much reliable bullpen help cost now and Hendriks would have eased the blow of Cecil leaving next season.
It's slim pickin's now. Even if Shapiro decides to acquire another SP if will probably be a reclamation project on a cheap 1 yr deal like Latos or Fister. Which unfortunately won't help us out next year or beyond.
The final payroll seems like it will be ~$140m. If you believe the $145m self imposed cap that leaves $5m. One would have to assume that some of that will be going to a legitimate Backup catcher.
