bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 I am interested to see what the opening day lineup will be vs. RHP. Where Saunders and Smoak will bat particularly. I assume Gibby doesn't want Saunders and Smoak back to back. Pillar Donaldson Bautista Encarnacion Smoak Tulowitzki Saunders Martin Goins But if Tulo has been penciled in at 5th every day, we could see Pillar Donaldson Bautista Encarnacion Tulowitzki Smoak Martin Saunders Goins I like the first option better. How long does the Pillar lead off experiment go on for?
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 How long does the Pillar lead off experiment go on for? The guy has defied the odds to get as far as he has. He hits a LO HR yesterday in ST and Buck yells out "I think we've found our lead off hitter". Throw up in mouth. I think even Gibby will conclude after 6 weeks or so he is not the guy we need getting any extra ABs with this line up. In the meantime, most will be pissed every time we see the line up card. FWIW Zaun was speaking truth yesterday on this subject.

It's all pretty cringey, But I do feel they will sort it out in a short period of time.

He has decent baserunning/speed and has the best OBP outside of the big 4. He would be the perfect solution until Travis returns, and on Dickey starts, use Saunders as the LO.

Smoak is a switch hitter. No lefty stack problem.

Pillar is super streaky...hope he starts out hot....although that might earn him too much rope when he cools off

Catchers hit 8th!

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 Hmmmm, should we have a general "in-season" roster thread or just keep using this for non-GDT Jays news?
Laika Community Moderator Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 Basically any transaction during the season warrants it's own thread. Could have a miscellaneous Jays news thread for the smaller things.
