Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Here is another reason for the Blue Jays to win today. Derek Holland is rooting against you. Make him sad!
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 I want to wipe my ass with that article
TheHurl Site Manager Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 I like the honesty. You don't see enough of that in sport today.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2015 Author Posted October 21, 2015 Bautista is incredibly whiny, so I do agree with Holland. If Bautista were on a different team I'm sure we'd all hate him. But I have no problem with the bat flip because it was the best time for a bat flip. Elimination game? Go ahead HR? Clutch HR given the circumstances? So much butthurt. As Price said, "IF you don't like it, pitch better"
AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 I'm sure most of the players that have interacted with Jose's constant crying feel the same way. I know I couldn't stand Youkilis when he played for Boston. Doesn't mean he's not a good player, I just don't like him.
Effit Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 I'm sure this will devastate Bautista. Holland is not exactly the most mature guy either, and from what I've seen, Rangers fans aren't thrilled with his behaviour. I don't mind him personally, but it's not like he's the model of maturity.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Bautista reminds me a lot of Kevin Youkilis. Whined and complained about every call and felt that any pitch close to the plate should be a ball for him. If Bautista played for New York or Boston, Toronto fans would hate him trust me.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Bautista is an all time great If it wasn't for early career issues he would be a first ballot HOF
pickoff22 Verified Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 So do our players need to go on the radio now and talk about how they don't like Holland cause he wiped his ass with a jays rally towel? Jesus what a knob. Players all around the league don't like certain players, they don't openly talk about it. Holland's a complete goof ball. I've always hated him since they did a piece about him before one of the 2011 playoff games. He's a guy that thinks he's funny, but he's not. And I doubt his teammates find his performance on the mound anything to laugh about either.

He's such a colossal self absorbed s*** head. He doesn't understand that his whining and antics get his team mates bad calls and gets team mated hit by pitches. he's a really good hitter and has a good eye at the plate, but the constant bitching makes teams and the entire MLB umpire staff hate Toronto.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Bautista is an all time great If it wasn't for early career issues he would be a first ballot HOF If he continues to have a David Ortiz type of career offensively into his early 40's, wins a World Series, its possible. Slim chances though.

Oh I know. Bautista annoys me sometimes as well. Though I'm sure most casual Blue Jays fans love Bautista and think he's innocent since he wears a Toronto uniform. Otherwise, if he played in New York or Boston for that matter, he'd be public enemy No. 1 here like A-Rod is/was.
Yorkshire Blue Jay Verified Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 So let me get this right Holland is whining about Jose's whining hmmmm Do we get this report if Rangers win game 3, 4 or 5 .... absolutely not! Losers are gonna hate.
Laika Community Moderator Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 I also do not like Bautista. He's a diva. Still want the team to extend him though. Also, on the "move Bautista to 1B" front - his garbage D all playoffs has kind of made me more sympathetic to the movement. At this point, the guy looks like a pitcher who got plopped out in RF because of an emergency situation. Terrible routes, terrible range, terrible instincts, bad hands, bad technique. All he does well is throw.

My only issue with Jose is the constant balls/strikes bitching, it's just way over the top..and the horrid defense is annoying too.
pickoff22 Verified Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 I think many people don't love the on-field Bautista, but I'll take it. Sure he whines but I don't care, he produces. And he's a really nice guy for those who have had the chance to meet him.
Governator Community Moderator Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Holland isn't far off, I was right behind Bautista in the outfield yesterday. If he wasn't stretching he was doing small glove gestures or taking big sighs between calls or hits. Didn't really notice it though until Hawkins/Tepera came in and s*** hit the fan.

He has been awful aside from what appears to be a recovered shoulder.
Laika Community Moderator Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Good. Was arguing with you about this other night. lol, f*** off
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 lol, f*** off Not trying to prove a point in saying that. I was thinking your arguments that a move to 1B was premature were really solid.

intrigid Verified Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 People just love to hate Bautista because of his superiority as a player. If he was a 20HR, Colabello type utility player, nobody would talk about him, let alone hate him.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Bautista is incredibly whiny, so I do agree with Holland. If Bautista were on a different team I'm sure we'd all hate him. That's not true. None of my friends down here like the Blue Jays. Most of them think Bautista is awesome.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 I like the honesty. You don't see enough of that in sport today. Yeah I don't mind the honesty at all. But I can't help but feel that Holand's dislike of Bautista is because of baseball's bullcrap "unwritten rules" which are total hogwash. He said he even liked him before the series.

He doesn't understand that his whining and antics get his team mates bad calls and gets team mated hit by pitches. he's a really good hitter and has a good eye at the plate, but the constant bitching makes teams and the entire MLB umpire staff hate Toronto. The behaviour gets a little tiring to see but when your own fans start to feel this way you know it is bordering on being obnoxious. He comes across as a very intense, single-minded individual while at the plate and that is good but, in my opinion, he can rein it in a bit and not lose anything. I know it cannot be easy being out there playing under intense, "do or die" situations and I can accept the fact that emotions can become explosive and almost uncontrollable at the same time. From my perspective (sitting in my lazyboy chair with food and beverages at hand in a comfortable environment) I do not think the attitude is necessary to have that zoned-in focused approach at the plate but then again, I do not get paid millions to perform at that level on such a stage so it is relatively easy for me to have this position. Edited October 21, 2015 by IBTrini grammar - hope I fixed all
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 I like the honesty. You don't see enough of that in sport today. Sure he's honest but that's one hell of a glass house he's throwing stones from. You want do to *******-y things like wipe your ass with the other team's towel than at least have the decency to shut the f*** up about what other players do and not give lectures. I have mostly been a fan of Holland though his career but he's coming off like baseball's biggest hypocrite right now.
AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 People just love to hate Bautista because of his superiority as a player. If he was a 20HR, Colabello type utility player, nobody would talk about him, let alone hate him. Not really. Everyone loves Donaldson, and he's even more talented, and just as intense. The difference is that he doesn't whine, or have ridiculous bat-flipping antics. Sure, everyone loses it on a bad call in a critical situation once in a while, but Bautista does it every time he doesn't get a borderline call.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Yeah I don't mind the honesty at all. But I can't help but feel that Holand's dislike of Bautista is because of baseball's bullcrap "unwritten rules" which are total hogwash. He said he even liked him before the series. He also said that it wasn't the bat flip really it was more the reactions to every single pitch. I've played with those types, and against, I can see where he comes from on it. I've talked about the racial overtones of this stuff (at least from fans and media...don't know about players). Donaldson reacts to a lot of things, says things in the media and gets called "a gamer", "intense" or "a bulldog", in general the same for Bryce Harper (although he gets called out for the "he hasn't been around long enough" bs). Carlos Gomez and Bautista react to things and they get called "unlikable", "douches" or "too emotional". I do it too...I like my white players to play hard like there is no tomorrow, and I like my visible minorities to quietly lead like Cutch. I'm obviously a racist.
