I'm not though. I just don't see the point in optimism anymore. It's pretty obvious this team is a disaster. Literally nothing can go right for this team unless it's FA signings or our below average, journeyman type prospects.

Vlad, Kirk, Manoah, Pearson, Biggio, etc. - all our home grown prospects are f***ing terrible.

Our current prospects don't look like they'll ever be much. Best shot is a guy who can't stay healthy or throw strikes. Barriera looks like a huge bust.

Bo won't re-sign here, he's gone

Varsho deal is pathetic. Guy is s***.

Springer is a shadow of his former self (who I loved)

Mazya is f***ed

Only super old managers win in the playoffs - we have a tomato.

Literally nothing goes right for this f***ing team and there's almost NOTHING of interest for a team battling for 4th or 5th place. Nothing in the present, nothing in the future. Hoping for a guy from India and Bobby Bonilla's kid (or cousin, or whatever) to lead this team in 2030.

TB can lose their best player and trade their best players away, bring in nobodies, bat Amed Roserio 5th and Harold f***ing Ramirez 3rd and still be good, while we watch the 5th percentile results play out in TO.

This is the worst part IMO. Not that the roster doesn’t look solid, or frustration over the moves that weren’t made….

but it seems like every f***ing year no matter what, we get the shittiest outcome possible for our position players. Im not exactly optimistic that it won’t play out the same this year too.

A lot of things do seem to go wrong with this team for sure, I get it.

Vlad turning into a 1 WAR first baseman with the IQ of a peanut

Bo looking like he doesn't want to be here, but also being a below average defensive 3 WAR SS

Manoah cratering from a 6 WAR starting pitcher into a negative WAR nightmare

Pearson, once a top 5-10 prospect in all of baseball barely being able to hold down a relief spot

Kirk, a guy who literally destroyed pitching all the way up the MiLB ladder and into MLB now swinging a wet noodle that he somehow managed not to eat.

Jansen unable to go more than 30-40 games without pulling a muscle or breaking a bone.

That's why I chuckle at the haters of the front office. The fact this team still manages to win about 90 games a year with all those "core" pieces turning into wet mushy cow manure borders on being some sort of miracle IMO.

But it's the front office, manager and coaches fault that everything that could go wrong, does go wrong. That's what we're constantly told on here. They have to be doing something wrong and should be held accountable.

Bo's closer to a 5 win average SS, bruh.

Very true but seems to be trending down. We'll see.

I remember in 2022 he was complete ass until late August and then went nuts and ended up over 5 fWAR

If he hadn't got injured last season he'd have likely gotten to 5 last year, he's 26 in his prime, I'm expecting a 5 win season again. He's only played 7 games this year, we're good.

Fernando Perez didn't have a good start yesterday for Dunedin, but Barriera is on the bump today.

Nimmala had a good first game in low A, see how it goes in game 2 starting right away

If course he is. Another massive 1st round bust. Atkins fault. Jays curse continues.

LOL. I like new Brownie. Finally seeing the light.

Welcome to Reality Land.

Manoah on the bump in Dunedin, things are not going well. At least with counting stats they aren't.

1.1 IP

4 walks

1 hit

2 earned

2 Ks

Looks like he's sitting 93-94mph with 4 seam and sinker

Manoah making himself unlikeable doesn't help matters.

Best shape of his life though

My first guess would be UCL related, rather elbow than shoulder

Yariel Rodriguez line:

2.1 IP

47 pitches 26 strikes

1 hit

2 walks

4 Ks

0 runs

I'm assuming he got lifted due to pitch count? Hoping anyways

Fluharty also pitched in this game and had 2 IP with 1 walk, 4 Ks, 0 hits, 0 runs. Looks like a stud lefty possibly

Dunedin came back to win the Manoah blow up game 8-7. He left they were down 7-1

Swanson pitched a clean inning of rehab, 2 Ks

And Maroudis picked the dubya with 4 beautiful innings, 0 hits, 0 walks, 0 runs and 5 Ks (38 pitches, 28 strikes)

Looking at the ticker, he was sitting 95mph with FB, 85mph slider, 80mph curve

So some good news

We need to be patient with Alec I think. Give him a few more years of development and by 2028 he might finally be good enough to be as good as a 18 year old rookie making his pro debut.

Sigh…

Wasted a year because he couldn’t control his diet, now another year wasted with injury.

Dude hasn’t moved up at all in 2 years

Kasevich is 4 for 5 today with 4 ribeyes

Anyone know, does his glove play at SS?

I don't think he'll be an elite glove, but he's the best shot we have internally at developing a genuine big league SS. The problem has always been the lack of pop in his bat.

15. Josh Kasevich

SS

Ht: 6'1" | Wt: 200 | B-T: R-R

Age: null

BA Grade: 45/High

Track Record: Kasevich spent three seasons at Oregon earning all-Pacific-12 Conference honors as a junior. The Blue Jays drafted Kasevich in the second round in 2022. He debuted after the draft with Low-A Dunedin, hitting .262/.344/.336 across 25 games. Kasevich was assigned to High-A Vancouver out of spring training 2023 and stayed there all season.

Scouting Report: A highly skilled and polished player, Kasevich has made his bones on the strength of his plate skills. He is rarely fooled and his linear, contact-focused approach yields high rates of balls in play. He’s adept at hitting velocity and spin but rarely with impact. Kasevich shows an advanced approach and keeps a tidy zone. He has the profile to hit for a high average against more advanced pitching but likely with very little impact. Kasevich’s raw power is below-average with very little high-end power and flatter angles in his best contact. A fringe-average runner, Kasevich is a smart baserunner but not a major basestealing threat. He is a skilled infielder with strong hands, actions and instincts in the field. He saw a majority of his time at shortstop but likely lacks the range and arm strength to plate there everyday.

The Future: Kasevich fits as a utility infielder with quality bat-to-ball skills, approach and the ability to handle multiple positions.

Scouting Grades Hit: 60 | Power: 30 | Run: 45 | Field: 55 | Arm: 45
