Padinho sighting!

Hahaha his first pitch, a meatball down the middle, is drilled over the fence

I read good reports on him concerning velo bump and s***.

Yeah I remember reading that encouraging news too.

Good news is he settled down after the homer. He went three up three down after that, with two grounders and a strike out. He only threw 10 pitches in the inning, nine of them strikes.

I wish I could report his velo but this game isn't supplying that data

Dunedin came back to win the Manoah blow up game 8-7. He left they were down 7-1

Swanson pitched a clean inning of rehab, 2 Ks

And Maroudis picked the dubya with 4 beautiful innings, 0 hits, 0 walks, 0 runs and 5 Ks (38 pitches, 28 strikes)

Looking at the ticker, he was sitting 95mph with FB, 85mph slider, 80mph curve

So some good news

Landen Maroudis is good.

What's with this Fluharty dude?

Following the game tracker today his fastball is only 88mph and a sweeper around 80mph

He must be one deceptive mofo or something because he's just mowing batters down. Guys got 103 K's in 78 MiLB innings for his career.

Man, if Jimmy Burnette can learn command he's going to be a hitters nightmare. K's for days with this guy.

Last year he had 17.12 K/9 in AA (But...5.3 BB/9), was promoted to AAA and still had high K numbers of 11.62 K/9 but he was damn near walking one batter per inning. Needless to say he got his ass handed to him.

This year they've started him AA again and he's pitched two inning so far and struck out 5 batters lmao (0 walks, 0 hits, 0 runs)

It sure seems like the Jays have an absolute crap ton of interesting arms in the minors and tons of guys who can rack up K's but just have some other warts to work on, like control.

Horwitz out to a scorching hot start in AAA: .379/.539/.517 with 10 walks and 5K.

Even if there is no power to speak of and he's a weird fit on the roster, he could look really good somewhere in the bottom of our order.

His career slash line in the minors is .304/.410/.465, which is mind-boggling. That's elite production.

Vogelbach's raw power is massively overrated, anyway.

Horwitz is probably better than Vogelbach at literally f***ing everything other than accruing home runs.

The last time Toronto had a AAAA type 1B they did not believe in it was Ryan Noda. Mr. 2.2 WAR Ryan Noda. That Ryan Noda.

Horwitz even has 3 steals to start the season

Vogelbach stinks but he's barely playing. When Jansen gets back there's another DH candidate/pinch hitter to add to the mix too.

The team is so stacked it might take an injury to get Horwitz some playing time.

Certainly possible, but that Ryan Noda also hits HRs. Horwitz, unless he can maintain a .400 OBP at the ML level, is a pretty empty hitter. His approach at the plate is too Biggio-esque.

The hit tool is much better than Biggio based on track record. The eye is the same.

I think it's a similar player because whatever gains in hit tool are made up by Biggio's versatility.

That said, it's still rather take an extended look at Horwitz.

We're talking about the bench here JH, Horwitz and Biggio/Schneider/Clement/ are perfectly cromulent bats off the bench, f*** Vogelbach, Horwitz might actually have a better eye at the plate too.

Yet you wanted Vogelbach, no?

I'm gonna wet blanket this, a 22 yr old 3rd round pick out of college should be pretty f***ing good in Low A

Thanks tips.

The Future: A projectable righthander with command concerns, Watts-Brown could develop into a back-of-the-rotation starter.

He's something, Jim. This is called projection and development.

He's a 3rd round pick, of course he's something.

Ok...so we should be upset that he pitched well?

What exactly is your point? Someone posted that he had a good outing; nobody said that he was Justin Verlander.

Wet blanket what Jim?

I literally said he was starting, posted his line through 2 IP (which was good) and listed his pitches and the speed of those pitches according to the game tracker.

There was not one single optimistic thing said about the guy going forward, so why you feel you had to "wet blanket" it, I have no f***ing clue

Alright, a caveat then. He's a 22 yr old college pitcher in A ball, take that into account.

He'll be in high A in a few weeks, let's see how that goes.

Horwitz is destroying AAA pitching so far. Too bad he didn't have a good spring, much rather have him than Vogelbach on the roster.

What's with this Robertson kid? I recall him having a nice approach in spring games. He's still relatively young (26) and only has 1100 pro at bats. Strong left handed hitter and his corner defence in the outfield seems to be fine. He may have found something and will be interesting to see how he further develops.
