Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2017 Posted September 5, 2017 what do either of them have to prove at high A I say AA I wouldn't be surprised to see both start in AA, given how well they've handled things so far. Teams would normally let them get 30 or 40 games at the same level the next year likely before moving them up, but I'm not sure it'll happen in this case.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2017 Posted September 5, 2017 Where do Bo and Vlad Jr. start next season? A+ or AA? I would start them in AA as well. Do they get Spring Training Invites? AA, and most likely ST invites, heck if Urena got one this year, they certainly should.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2017 Posted September 5, 2017 Any word on transactions today from Buffalo, as their season is over?

Lindor under Shatkins did Age 17 - low A Age 18 - A Age 19 - High A (373 PA's), AA (91 PA's) Age 20 - AA (387 PA's), AAA (180 PA's) Age 21 - AAA, Majors I could see the number of PA's in the age 19 season being reversed. Like 100 in High A and 370 in AA. Then starting his age 20 season in AAA. I don't know that there is a right or wrong answer...also at some point you have to figure that him and Bichette move at different points.
Ray Verified Member Posted September 5, 2017 Posted September 5, 2017 Right after being one of the finalists of Minor League Player of the Year, Austin Hays is being called by the O's. I believe he'll be the first 2016 draftee to play in the majors.

spats Verified Member Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 Where do Bo and Vlad Jr. start next season? A+ or AA? Selfishly, I hope Dunedin. At least for the month of April while I'm there.

Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2017 Author Posted September 6, 2017 Where do Bo and Vlad Jr. start next season? A+ or AA? I actually think they might start them both in A+, pretty much for weather reasons...with a promotion in May (assuming no injuries or performance goes off the rails), but it wouldn't surprise me in the least if they start in AA (or at least Vladdy). Bo slowed down quite a bit, but that injury of his may have been a big reason why.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 Vladimir Guerrero finishes the season with a .425 OBP across two levels.
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 Vladimir Guerrero finishes the season with a .425 OBP across two levels. Best OBP in MiLB.
jimedmonds Verified Member Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 Vlad Jr. is the top prospect in baseball, in my opinion and it's well deserved. I wish him all the best - does he have 5x all-star, 8 gold gloves, HOF-worthy but robbed by Crooked Cooperstown, and an appearance on a celebrity TV show potential when he calls it a career?
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 Best OBP in MiLB. His MiLB BB/K rates are better than Joey Votto and at a younger age. This kid is going to live on base.

Zero gold gloves. But lots of offensive accolades I'm sure.

But same as you, wouldn't surprise me, well maybe a bit, if it was AA.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 I don't think it really matters either way, he'll be in AA by the All-Star break unless he falls on his face or gets hurt. Personally, I would challenge the kid and send him to AA; I want him as a full-time MLBer sometime in 2019.

Based on how the two of them handled A+, I think Guerrero is ready for AA, but Bichette could use more time in A+

Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 Based on how the two of them handled A+, I think Guerrero is ready for AA, but Bichette could use more time in A+ Their Dunedin numbers were as close as can be?? I mean Vlad walked more, but that's Vlad, he will always walk more. Both hit .320ish, both struckout at about the same rate, both did good. This is stupid. Both were about the same.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 Jaime 12:11 Is Vlad Jr. bat so special that he could be a 1B with no baserunning value and still be the best prospect? Dave Cameron 12:11 Yes.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 Jazzflute 1:05 How early can we possibly expect Vlad Jr to hit the majors? Dave Cameron 1:05 Next summer. 1:06 He's starting next year in Double-A. No reason he can't do something like what Devers did this year and finish the year with Toronto.

He's at the same level at Vlad Jr

He's at the same level at Vlad Jr He's a year older which is a big deal and keeps him from being considered as good of a prospect. Still had a very impressive season though.

But lots of offensive accolades I'm sure. if he could be neutral on DWAR at 3B or 1B, that's still like 6-7 WAR potentially in his prime. Any chance he could be above average in 3B or is he too much of a fatass to have the range? Like Sandoval did it in 2011 for 106 games and was a +1.8 DWAR and he was very rotund. halp enlighten, baseball experts!

There's no telling how his D will play in the Majors, scouts don't like his D, but they've been wrong before. Who knows?! This is from a scout who saw him mid-August... Defense: He's a big kid already and he's only going to get bigger. While he's agile for his size, he doesn't move well enough from side to side at present to see him being able to stick at third longterm. I'm not sold that he would definitely need to move to first- a spot that his athleticism would let him be a quality defender and a spot the bat still easily plays at. I can actually see him getting a look in left field to take advantage of his athletic ability. His defense is hard to project because it depends on his body/growth as well as position, but I see a 30/40 at third, 50/60 at first, and 40/45 in left. The arm is big and will get a plus grade, and that’s another reason why I could imagine him potentially getting a look in left field. That's the general consensus from scouts. Jays think it plays...
