ah.... meant JPA, there are others like Bonifacio. And targetting players in decline like Reyes. Injury prone guys like Johnson. An old knuckleballer coming off a career year. Giving up a guy like Napoli for an old reliever.

I thought AA's best skill was risk taking. Some times it worked against him, but I don't think any other GM pulls off the Donaldson trade other than him. With this front office, we probably won't see another JD type of trade, but we also won't see Thor pitching somewhere else. It's the trade off for super risky vs. conservative.

 

With that said, still glad he is gone. At least I don't have to worry about Vlad or Bo being traded for Joey Votto or Stanton now.

I think Drabek was Top 10 when the Phillies traded him to the Jays. Lawrie and d'Arnaud both got close but I think Lawrie was promoted before he actually reached Top 10.

Is Vlad Jr. the best prospect in franchise history? Obviously not taking into account where guys actually ended up. Like Halladay for example. Vlad Jr. is a better prospect than he was I'd imagine.

What were the scouts smoking when they ranked Alex Gonzalez the 5th and 8th best prospect in baseball? I guess projected his bat to catch up with his great defense. He would have ranked high on the best looking Jays list - but that's about it.

Look at Gonzalez's minor league numbers, especially age 21 in AAA.

I did. I saw a couple of .790 OPS seasons in AA and AAA at age 20 and 21. I mean that's not awful by any means. I guess he had a good power/speed combo with elite defense. His bat just ended up being Jose Iglesias in the majors.

This may have been posted, but I found it hilarious. Love Bo 'Bitches' Bichette

 

Bichette finished his season with a Minor League-best .362 average over 110 games between Class A Lansing and Class A Advanced Dunedin, but what most will remember is the .384 he put in 70 games at the lower level. That stat gained a new level of perspective when Minor League Baseball declared Bichette the Midwest League batting champ, despite not getting enough at-bats to qualify. (According to Rule 9.22(a), even if he made up those at-bats by going 0-for-61 with the Lugnuts, he still would've had the Class A circuit's best average.)

I'd say at 18 it's to young to say that, but I'd say he's easily on pace to be the best prospect in Jays history. There is no Jays prospect that was talked about as highly as Vlad has this year.

Ah - Fangraphs refers to him as Jose Silva. Looks like he was dominant as a 18 and 19 year old in Rk and A ball, but quickly fizzled out and was a nobody. Big time strikeouts back when they weren't valued much.

Vancouver won 2-1 last night to take a 2-1 series lead in their NWL best of 5 finals.

 

Pearson threw 4 innings, gave up 1 ER on 3 hits, 2 walks and 4 K, then the pen took over and threw 5 shutout innings on 1 hit, 2 walks and 6 K.

Nate Pearson, RHP, Toronto Blue Jays (Short-Season Vancouver): 4 IP, ER, 3 H, 2 BB, 4 K

The 28th overall pick in June has the kind of straight cheddar that’s a bit much for short-season hitters, as the 11 measly hits he’s allowed through his first 28 pro innings can attest. Now, can he consistently harness his 6-foot-6, 245-pound frame and keep those triple-digit laser beams honed in the strike zone? Well, we’ll all learn that together. So far, however, he’s done a reasonable job.
