DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 2 win improvement ROS. Pretty colossal upgrade given where they are in the standings and the win curve yada yada yada And we actually have an ace for the one game play-in. This offense and they have to beat Price? I don't want to get too far ahead of myself but I like our chances.
CHRIS Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 He's going to get $200+M. Mega contracts for 30+ year old pitchers are about the single most reckless and stupid thing a team can do. The Jays haven't given him that contract yet though (I don't think -- I'm probably a few pages behind at this point). Does this deal make sense from a value perspective? Most probably not, but it makes sense from a winning perspective. I do believe there is value in making a post-season run. It might not be as tangible as mapping out Norris' value moving forward, but it's there. I'm not sure how many on this forum remember the "glory days", but they were amazing. Toronto isn't the greatest sports town by any means, but it doesn't take much for the atmosphere to turn very, very good with a bit of success.
fireballW Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 AA doesnt operate that way. No GM can worry about his job when doing deals Sincerely believe AA is true to his word when he says he will do what he thinks is best for the organization, weather his job is on the line or not.
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 How is 1 guy the core of the farm? Cause I know you aren't talking about Boyd and Labourt. Labourt is a lottery ticket, buy Boyd plays the role of depth. Sone thing the Jays have been lacking. Of course when you don't use that depth, that's a whole other story...

The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Price does not sign before the off season 0% chance of it. I think if AA offers him a fair contract he might take it. There's a lot of starters available this offseason, which means a lot of competition.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Apparently, it's Norris, Boyd and Labourt. Yeah, that's what they're saying on the fan.
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 I love all the takes from players Your ass is ours next archer, come on down and in to join the party! Ninja him Alex,do it!
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Pineda headed to the DL with "elbow problem" I'm assuming there isn't a written source yet because it might have been said on-air somewhere? I don't know, but expect written reports to come out quickly.
5minutesforframing Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 And do you wanna bet that won't happen? Cry me a river man, f*** off with your whining please.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 And do you wanna bet that won't happen? I have faith in a playoff run now but can't bet, I'm already going to be salty for months if it all falls apart and there is no need to pile on.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Boyd in this deal is playing the exact same role as Sean Nolin in the Lawrie deal
nmrch Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 I don't agree that the Yankees are better They just didn't throw away games in Dubront Boyd And Copeland The Yankees are projected to be a better team ROS and they have a 7 game lead on us. Fangraphs gives us a 7.6% shot at the division. Like i said we'll need to go on a legendary run to catch them
Governator Community Moderator Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Yeah, that's what they're saying on the fan. You're late to the party.

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Even with this trade, the Jays still have a way better farm than the Tigers. If you go by prospect rankings, only one of the three best prospects (Pompey, Norris, Alford) has been traded and Tulo and Price have been acquired. That's pretty impressive. I would have preffered to pay less for Price but I would have willingly paid more for Tulo so I guess I'm pretty happy with the net result.

Mikeleelop Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 I'mf*** you AA f*** you. f***ing Norris is going to be an ace And in 2 years the all star game will be Synder vs. Norris And we will all cry Stop with the bull. Norris has poor control let alone command.

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Enjoy it guys. Cry later Stop being such a grump. We didn't trade Syndergaard again.

baubau Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Stop being such a grump. We didn't trade Syndergaard again. I'm a little upset that Synd, Norris and to a lesser extent Hoffman were traded before Sanchez.
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Is that with Price? Also if Pineda and maybe Nova are hurt that's a big blow.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Stop being such a grump. We didn't trade Syndergaard again. Boxy you just came back to us, let me be melancholy

fireballW Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Other organization's probably feel the same we edo about Sanchez sadly.
leaffie Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Always read, but don't post much. Just for once, how about some positivity. AA went and got the best 3rd baseman, the best SS, and now one of the best pitchers. He has given this team a chance to win, and you should just enjoy it. Don't worry about next year. The Jays have spent 20 years with prospects that have literally done nothing. Now they have, they have given the Jays a chance by being traded. Enjoy boys, even if it only lasts for this year. They can always trade everyone over the winter and rebuild.
