aselvana Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 We'll be signing a free agent starter this offseason anyway. And we'll have the money. We clear 20 for MB, 12 Dickey, 8 from Romero. That's 40 Mil coming off the books. there is no doubt in my mind, if the jays make the playoffs this year rogers will pony up more money aswell.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 We basically have to. Maybe not Price, but we don't have the high-end depth anymore so we need a top of the rotation arm to pair with Stroman. We're set up good I think to acquire one. Would leave us with Stroman, Good FA Starter, Hutch, Sanchez, Osuna?

It's the years not the AAV that will keep the Jays from extending Price.

I could see him be willing to sacrifice individual stats to play for a team with a powerhouse lineup. Jays are rumoured to like him a lot too. That seems like the best fit. A playoff run this year would definitely help.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 If that happens, it's on the players. Bautista now needs to STFU and lead this team to the promised land. He isn't even done yet, lol.

Romero's $8MM is a wash as Martin's contract rises from $7MM to $15 (and $20 the year after) and Buehrle will likely get a qualifying offer, so if he chooses not to retire he may end up back here for $15MM. Big difference between clearing $40MM and only $17MM

I think if they'll have money to maybe even add 2. I just did some quick math, and figuring in the raises and such they'll have close to 40 Million to work with if they go with the same payroll as this year.

GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Always read, but don't post much. Just for once, how about some positivity. AA went and got the best 3rd baseman, the best SS, and now one of the best pitchers. He has given this team a chance to win, and you should just enjoy it. Don't worry about next year. The Jays have spent 20 years with prospects that have literally done nothing. Now they have, they have given the Jays a chance by being traded. Enjoy boys, even if it only lasts for this year. They can always trade everyone over the winter and rebuild. All this is true. Be happy for now. But, please don't forget this. When there's lean Jays years the fans can't squawk about s***** teams. The Jays cannot run hot forever if they're as all-in as they are.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Author Posted July 30, 2015 Chris Cotillo Two names I'm hearing are likely on Jays' radar as they consider adding pitching: Andrew Cashner and Jon Niese.

The only way to be contenders every year is to have unlimited payroll like the Yanks. This is our reality, embrace it!
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 I'm willing to pick up Niese if we give up someone like Nay and they eat all the salary.

Martin's 8Mil raise, and MB's 15Mil if he does accept, leaves us with $31MM.
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Shanchez, estrada, the pimp, tellez ,Pentecost Alford and navarro For Archer, boxberger, and jaso! Ninja now! There's you 1-2 for the future Sho and archer would be a hoot! Lol
thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Some of you people bitching that their farm is empty now don't know what an empty farm looks like... http://slicesofamerica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/field1s.jpg Right now it's more like this, not full, but with enough beef to stock for the future still. http://yorkinternational.yorku.ca/files/2014/10/farmday.jpg
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 the great thing about Price being a rental is that we can abuse him to the extent that the Brewers abused CC. 130 pitch outings, here we go!

I'd say $22M after arbitration

Ya, I can see Estrada being back if he's willing to take a reasonable contract. Could be a good #4/5. It'll be nice to get Izturis and Navarro outta here.
