So Bob Elliot says that the Jays made an offer of Hoffman, Norris and Pompey for Carrasco. Indians declined.

 

Would the Indians be more open to something like Edwin + Pompey + Norris? Or maybe they are adamant on obtaining Stroman in the deal.

As an Indians fan that would love to see EE on our team, I'd rather not trade for what would basically be a one year rental for us. Only way Antonetti does that is if you add in Alford or replace EE with Stroman.

 

Stroman + Norris + Pompey, I'd do that trade in a heartbeat. Our minor league guys are usually pretty good about working out the kinks in pitchers. I know Norris has struggled at times, but I have faith that Mickey Callaway would set him straight. He managed to completely revamp Ubaldo's career and changed an inconsistent mediocre AAA pitcher to a Cy Young winner.

 

Plus, we really need a Left starter.

I hate his opt out clause after next season. He pitches great and he walks. He pitches like s*** and you are paying him $21M a season.

Not to mention it would be two starters that were close to the bottom of his list since they are pure rentals

 

Yup, I'd love Carrasco but that ain't happening, I can see Alex picking up Fiers and another controllable pitcher like, May/Roark/Leake and Haren. A possible rental could be Wandy for cash likely, it would shore up the back end at least with those guys. Or Hamels/Price, lol.

This is the time of the year when "insiders" make up tons of s*** and hope some manages to stick and make them look like they actually have legit connections. I wouldn't put any stock into the general rumors.

You don't want to trade Alford either. He has reached base in all 27 games in Dunedin with hits in 25. Profiles as dynamic leadoff hitter and potential 5 tool player. All of this despite being the first year he's focusing on baseball. (He played football at Ole Miss)

Rays got Eduar Lopez in the DeJesus deal.

 

Fire sale trade.. because Lopez isn't a prospect, and the Angels are taking on all the money. Makes you wonder if there are financial problems in the Rays organization.

Now with injuries Travis and Bautista, unless a potential pitcher is controllable for the next few years (either a long contract or young enough) I'd rather they stand pat.

 

Use the 40 million freed up by Buehrle, Romero, and Dickey on two starters in free agency (or through an offseason trade) and run with the two new guys + Stroman + two of Hutchison/Estrada/Norris.
