Kennedy is garbage, why make a trade at all if it's not an upgrade that has the potential to make the Jays contenders.

I really don't see us making a move for a RP, I think Hawkins was it.

Won't be a rental starter either unless it costs nothing.

I could see a big trade with Milwaukee. Parra, Fiers, and K-Rod all seem like AA targets.

I don't think the pen needs any more improvements. Its very solid as-is.

I wouldn't even try to go for Price. If anything to drive up the Price (rimshot) for him. The Yankees certainly have the pieces to do it though. Aaron Judge is such a good fit for the Tigers, especially with Cespedes leaving.

I think Nightengale is the most full-of-s*** writer out of all the big story news guys. He's always commenting on every rumor, but it's extremely rare for him to ever actually break any trades. Far more often than not, he spews garbage that never materializes into anything.

 

We already know that the Jays don't often trade for guys they're rumored to be in on, we know they don't have much interest in rentals, and Nightengale has never provided reliable information in regards to the Blue Jays. Taking all that into account, we can probably safely assume that he's making up what he's heard, or somebody told him to leak the Jays name to maybe push a player's value.

 

Don't believe anything you read about the Jays until it happens.

Seriously, if it costs nothing, get James Shields. AA clearly has no problems paying someone $20m for what they did in the past, so at least with Shields he wouldn't have to give up much.

Jays rumoured to be interested in Mike Leake and they say AA is "in" on a number of pitchers at his level (ie, not aces).

 

Leake's a solid target, I'd prefer him over Kennedy, as I think a GB pitcher would do better in TO. However, since it's been rumoured, it's unlikely to ever happen. There's been no rumours of AA trading for King Felix - so that's good news.
