  1. Damn, that's a lot of children and elderly people not working.
  2. Plus he's a good friend of Donaldson's, his best friend when he was with Oakland if I recall correctly. If he help Donaldson to sign a long term contract, then that's worth it right there, even if he plays like crap.
  3. Realistically, the team should sign one of them to a 3-4 year deal. Alford/Pompey should be able to take over RF next year full time, allowing them to shift Jose to DH or to retain EE. I don't think they should necessarily keep both, but it would be a gut punch to the fan base to have one of the two fan favourites go.
  4. Sub par from my perspective. They are relying on a rotation where there is too many ifs and maybes on it. The good thing is that it's probably 7-8 people deep, so if several crap the bed, they will have other options. Not at all confident with the rotation whatsoever. Like getting Storen. Hoping that he allows the Jays to stretch out either Sanchez or Osuna.
  5. With the quality of the Jays defense, they really should target as many GB pitchers as possible. More GB = more outs on batted balls.
  6. Mitt Romney's family and a lot of other mormon families fled persecution to Mexico. They wanted to continue to have polygamy and it was outlawed in the US. As someone from Calgary, I have known about 30 mormons in my life, including two of my former best friends. Nothing wrong with them as people, just some messed up beliefs.
  7. Disappointed because I liked Revere as a person and am glad the Jays dealt him to a good team. It completely makes sense though with both Pompey and Alford pushing for spots sooner than later and they needed a good pen arm.
  8. Merry Christmas everyone. Loving the weather in Calgary right now.
  9. I'd go 6-120 on Davis With him being 29, he will only be Jose's age by the end of the contract. Assuming they age at around the same level, you've basically replaced his bat in the lineup for the next 6 years. That said, you would have to walk away from either EE or Jose if you sign him. Personally, I'd keep EE because of age.
  10. Some garbage filler guy off the scrap heap because we can't afford to spend any money.
  11. Yay, being content with 3rd place finishes. The Jays need a #2/3 starter and 2 pen arms still. They aren't going to spend on those pieces. They don't have anything to trade for those pieces unless they want to create another hole in another position. They will win a lot of games due to their offense, but it is doubtful that it'll be enough to win the division, especially with teams that don't have arbitrary financial constraints.
  12. Glad to see that the Jays once again are going to be doing nothing but half measures and are going with a generally mediocre approach to the offseason. Woohoo, JA Happ, that will make your team a contender. That and Chavez being the only two acquisitions, and likely the only two acquisitions of note is beyond pathetic after how much revenue was generated from July on. I would not have paid the Price on David, but the fact they came out and said that they aren't targeting anyone of merit is frustrating. This team has a short window, perhaps as little as one more season. Wouldn't want to actually try and win. Might cost you 15 extra million dollars. Never mind that you'd get that back 5-10 fold over the season. Stingy cheap ass owners that will only do things to a point and no further. Yes, they have a top 10 payroll, but for how much revenue they have, they can easily afford to be top 5 considering they have an entire country supporting them. They aren't Tampa or Oakland where they literally have zero dollars to play with. Rogers is rolling in cash. If/when the Jays struggle this season, which is likely if Estrada, Happ and Chavez regress from career seasons, then it will get ugly.
  13. I think the Jays need 2 good bullpen pieces as insurance in case any/all of the 4 middling starters regress significantly. Other than that, I guess it's done.
  14. I was hoping for someone more on the level of Zimmerman/Iwakuma, a #2/3 guy. Probably could get one of them for 3-4 years. I didn't want Price unless it was for 150-170/7 not the 200 that has been rumoured. I don't particularly want the Jays to re-sign Bautista or EE unless it's for 3 years or less. Basically ride out the Martin/Tulo/Donaldson years with competitive talent.
