Question about EE 10/5 rights. I recall him being picked up by Oakland on waivers a few years ago before the jays grabbed him back. Did he have to play a game for Oakland for the 5 years with same team to be voided?

Anyone able to answer this?

Would the Astros do EE and buehrle for Carlos correa, Vincent Velasquez and Marwin Gonzalez ?

Would it require money or a boyd pompey or tellez to seal the deal?

Discuss!

Seriously, what is wrong with you to suggest that trade?

You do realize that Correa is probably a future hall of famer, right? He has as much value as any player in baseball right now.

Once again, like every other idea I've seen you float out there, you are out to lunch.

To my knowledge, no. He never played a game for the A's, and resigned with the Jays about a month or so later after the A's non-tendered him.

And he may never amount to any of what you just said either and go bust, Rookies are not a sure thing ever !

Maybe if he plays 5 years first we can have this debate again! FYSMC :)

Just like the A's were not moving Donaldson I guess too!

So World Series is not a thing for the Astros either ?

When did they become the Jays and get our F.O hmmmmm

So how do the 10/5 rights work then? Do you actually know or are you just guessing? Technically he hasn't been with the same team for the last 5 years so he shouldn't have said rights. Unless of course their is a stipulation of playing a game. Searching I haven't found the answer to this, can anyone tell me of possible loopholes in 10/5 rights?

I also heard from a media source (don't ask which), that because EE never played for Oakland, his 10/5 rights were intact.

Did the A's move JD mid season when they were trying to win a WS? Obviously not BC it would've made no sense.

I don't know the answer but multiple mainstream news sources have said he has 10/5 rights.

So then getting buehrle to shore up your pitching and EE when you need a 1st baseman or another power bat when you need one and going for it, a World Series that is! Don't be confused other teams are not ours some teams value winning and winning it all, Now! Go big or go home. :)

Remember how everyone mocked New York's rotation before the season?

By "everyone", do you mean jaysfan2014?

And pretty much the entire mainstream media.. this Yankees team was picked to be last in the AL East, with Boston being the top team, not the reverse.

Some samples:

Note the heavy appearance of the Yankees being 4th or 5th.. they blew these predictions badly! Red Sox are horrible, O's are in the same boat as the Jays, as is Tampa.

Starting Marwin Gonzalez every day at SS is the kind of poor planning that costs you a playoff spot and moving Correa is the type of move that gets a GM fired

Oh and some supposedly smart guys thought the Red Sox were the deepest team in the universe and their rotation was alright.

s*** happens and we don't know s***.

Padres might take Reyes if the Jays included $55M cash

Sounds like a good deal

Hell no! Padres are in full fire sale mode.. they wouldn't take Reyes. They want prospects..

Why don't the Jays go all-in and sell the farm for Carrasco and Fiers? 4/5 of the rotation would be under control for most of the remainder of the decade. You'd have young controllable players in Travis, Pillar, Osuna, Sanchez and Donaldson. Martin is here long-term, Reyes is around for a while. Bautista will be extended eventually. That's a pretty solid core to have and Buerhle and Dickey, among others, are off the books after this season. There's money to extend Bats, cover arbitration and fill some of the remaining holes to remain competitive while building up the farm system over the next few years.

I'm not going to guess what the cost might've been to acquire Carrasco that led to negotiations falling apart, but I've got to think we've got enough to land him and Fiers while avoiding touching the ML roster.

Cleveland is generally a pretty good org. If they're trading Carrasco it's probably going to be for a huge haul.

So you're sending Stroman the other way?

Of course you'd send Stroman the other way. The point of contention is what other players they'd want.
