    Chicken or the egg. Did the original natural swing stop working or did he switch to a new swing and that doesn't work? If the latter seems the fix is easy back to the old swing. Seems like the problem is, which others have described many times, is that he doesn't get his A swing off enough. He adjusts to the pitch and gets a choppy b-swing off and makes weak contact and is out, and the at bat is over.

    It depends what the reason is behind some of the inexplicable hitting slumps particularly Kirk, Springer, and Vlad. What are they like a .350 slugging combined? Insane. If the reason is injuries then the hitting coach can't do anything. If it is age hitting coach can't do anything. If it is PEDs and the tests are evolving hitting coach can't do anything. If it is sign stealing, and the other teams have adjusted hitting coach and hitting strategists maybe need to adjust? If it's something else, like a semi-random phase shift then I guess the right hitting coach could get them out of it. Like if some mechanical or mental thing got them into it and not injuries, then something should be able to get them out of it.

    In retrospect 2019 was the only year they didn't try to, or actually contend. He would have been useful in 2020 and 2021 with the rosters they had, but more than likely would have prevented them from signing Semien. If he replaced Biggio in 2021 Jays would make the playoffs, but unlikely they have Donaldson and Semien on the 2021 team with no spot for Biggio.

    Jo Jo Parker (.250 .390 .460 or so, a double and two walks last night) continues to do a good Cavan Biggio impression. That is a good (2018/2019/2020) Cavan Biggio impression, not 2022 Cavan Biggio. Cavan Biggio skill set, but better exit velocity and athleticism. If his numbers end up at 2019/2020 Biggio level, but better defense, baserunning, and same rate stats in a tougher league that is a good player.

    He won't do the Yesavage thing obviously, with a full workload in the playoffs... he could do a Spencer Miles thing for a couple of games in a desperation situation, where instead of Patrick Corbin, or Max Scherzer, they bring him to Oakland in September for 3 innings to try and catch the As and 7 other teams they are 1.5 games back of. But like I said, more likely to be 10 games back of the multi-team AL cluster-f***.

    I mentioned that we could see him this year and got tarred and feathered. Not sure what ihs innings limit is, but if he performs at double a, performs at triple a, they keep his innings down (only 3 last night) and he has some bullets ... AND the American League sucks so much ass that the 75-78 Blue Jays, with 65 win true talent and the worst management in the game are somehow like 1 game back of the wild card... and Varland is burnt out, Miles goes for some TJ, but 42,000 casuals are still showing up demanding some wins. Yeah... we see him take the Spencer Miles spot maybe, or maybe Miles is fine and they need two of those. Biggest reason it won't happen is the Jays are more likely to be 65-88 by then and 75-78 would be a miracle.

    2016 they did a good job. Well all they did was sign J.A. Happ but that move got them back into the playoffs. Otherwise kept the team functional and operating well. 2017/2018/2019 bad 2020/2021/2022/2023 good 2024 bad 2025 excellent 2026 disappointing I got 5 bad 6 good

    For a 500 million dollar asset how much do you put into asset salvage? 1 million ? 5 million ? 25 million ? Should the asset salvage process be public so the fans can follow? Like why not 20 million worth of psychologists, biomechanics experts, nutrition experts, fitness experts, sleep experts. Entire teams devoted to every aspect of rejuvenating Vlad. You come to the ballpark and there is a team measuring the barometric pressure, ambient noise, and trying to time his red bull to get him maximum alertness for game time. A team analyzing the music being played and optimizing it. A team coaching everyone how to react to the homerun jacket situation, and whether rejecting is better, because it will wake him up, or whether just accepting is better to get some good vibes going. All of this to try and salvage something from the 500 million dollar investment.

    Maybe trying to hit it in the air screws him up?? Maybe the best trade off we can hope for is mostly on the ground but at 110+ with occasional singles off the wall and maybe even homers over the lower fences ?? Maybe we make a deal with him that he can hit it on the ground if he's patient. Yandy Diaz for the next 7 years would not be a complete disaster. Not what we wanted, but he'd build counting numbers, contend for batting titles, get on base, get 3.5 WAR in good years, push us to the playoffs.

    I didn't bump the thread because Vlad apparently hit the hardest ball in baseball last night at 115 mph, 5 degrees, and my rule was I stop bumping the thread if Vlad hits it over 110. But other people bumped it, so don't blame me. Didn't watch so it was probably a double play or something. Congratulations to Joc Pederson, Jake Burger, Wyatt Langford, for hitting them high and deep into the Toronto night, you all now have more homeruns at Rogers Center then Vladimir Guerrero Jr. But also congratulations to Vladimir Guerrero Jr. for hitting the hardest ball in baseball last night, maybe it was a light schedule but none the less that 115 mph missile right at an infielder hopefully indicates there will be some sing;es off the wall soon!

    Tonight, when a Texas ranger hits a long high drive, deep into the night, a loud crack of the bat, an outfielder hardly moves, a run on the board! You can say congratulations. You have now hit more homers at Rogers Center in 2026 then Vladimir Guerrero Jr.!!!!

    There are so few we don't even have to check the exit velocity box scores. We just can remember them. 26 degrees 109 mph, 430 feet, the crack at the bat, the thrill of a long high drive deep into the night sky. If these happen regularly they blend together, but if it only happens once or twice we remember. Vlad homers the 2026 collection 1. In Chicago early April - 108 25 degrees 437 feet - normal homer that happened twice a week in 2021 2. In LA mid April - 107 28 degrees 430 feet - a high majestic drive that a 500 million dollar slugger is suppose to provide regularly. 3. in Detroit May - 100 25 degrees 370 or so - even Vlad complained that this was a Mickey mouse homer and did not indicate his slump was over. 4. In Boston June - 100 mph 25 degrees 400 feet or so - WIND AIDED. Not really even a homer just a ball up in the air that got in the wind and went 30 extra feet. Vlad has not hit the ball properly in 2 months!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Counterpoint: They suck with runners in scoring position. That is random and will regress. I think it will only 'regress' if they stop chasing and walk more. Walk more. Hit ball hard. That's it. Nothing else. If this group of players can't do that, season over. Don't trade Sean Keys as well. Walks and hits ball hard. Release Springer, put Guerrero on waivers, to open a spot for him, before trading Keys.

    Here are the options. 1. Team walks more and hits the ball harder. Vlad hits the ball at 110+ 5 times a week, 100+ 20 times a week. 2. Season over. Those are the options. If 1. can't happen season is over.

    They are second last in on base percentage. Last in walks. Last year they were first in on base percentage. Stealing 4-5 bases a night will do s*** all because they will also be caught 1-2 times. Exactly how they going to stead 4-5 bases anyway? Like they get on base maybe 9 times in a game. Kirk, Valenzuela, Okamota are probably 4 or 5 of those and.... And like the greatest base stealing team of all-time, the 1985 St. Louise Cardinals stole 2 bases a game. The best base stealing team in the AL this year is the Yankees with 1 a game. And that is doing s***-all anyway. They score runs because they hit a lot of homers and get on base. Like they are on pace to hit 240 homers and walk 700 times and score a little runs then you'd expect (820 maybe) because they lost 25 baserunners stealing bases they didn't need. They need 4-5 walks a night and 4-5 balls hit over 105 mph including at least one by Vlad. If they don't get that they are screwed, even stealing like the 85 St. Louise Cardinals.

    Keys and Perry traded to Florida for Alcantara. Keys leads Marlins to playoffs with 20 homers in August and September then becomes their Ben Rice. Seriously though, assume George Springer is not on the team next year and that Guerrero has an injury and issues that may require DL stints and load management and 2 months off for swing reconstruction. Is Keys the guy to take Springer's spot and backup Guerrero, especially if they go to a load management system? If you want to trade Keys, then who do you think gets this role?

    Yankee Announcer - And here is Ben Rice, a high deep drive, a hard hit ball, no doubt about it, the outfielder doesn't move. 30 homers before the all star break, so many thrills for the fans. The ball flies off his bat. ELECTRIC!!!!! Yankee color - Surprised he didn't make the all star game. Certainly deserved. Blue Jays Announcer - Vlad sends that one to left... out fielder takes a step back, now coming in to make a routine catch. Misjudged a bit, but just floated out there and hung up. Blue Jay color - So Vlad will end the first half stuck at 4 homers. He will be headed to the all star game though as the fans still love him.

    Cito did this and it wasn't a great look. All star starters were AMCO with Griffey in between and the W on the bench. Mike Mussina warmed up and did not get into game.

    Jayson Heyward was a huge guy, super athletic, awesome defense stats, great minor league stats. Had a good power season at 22 (not at Vlad's level) then at 26 hit .230 .306 .325 and then at 31 .214 .280 .347. Some other awful seasons in his prime. Super-athletic, hard worker I think, great in all the other areas of the game, good hitter as a young guy... and his swing broke and could never be fixed. Vlad's best and so far worst is better then Heyward... but just the trend, the idea of a broken swing that can't get fixed is concerning.

    The only guy that remotely deserves to go is Okamoto. Jays fans need to smarten up and vote for him only. The Vlad thing is insane. Follow the game a bit. Even if you like rbbizzz and homerz you can use ONLY those 2 stats to vote for better choices.

    Every franchise is a complete mess except the Yankees, Dodgers, Brewers. We signed a first basemen who lost all exit velocity and power to a 500 million contract. The Mariners singed a first basemen just as bad apparently to a 100 million contract. The Giants took on a horrible contract for a deteriorating first basemen with a bad contract. The Mets seem to be a complete mess. The Braves might look good right now, but AA will probably do some moronic thing that will get them back to 75 wins next year. The Rays? OK. They might be well run too.

    I have noticed that. Weird. But his exit Vs are down a few mph. Especially the last few weeks.

    Joey Loperfido now has more homers at Rogers Center this year then Vlad. And he was traded to the Astros. Jays lose in agonizing fashion, destroying the bullpen and causing several downstream losses and Vlad has no exit velocities over 100 and leaves many stranded this thread gets bumped. Jays lose in regular fashion (don't destroy bullpen) and Vlad has a horrible day but hit a ball over 100 (even if grounder double play) the 'Cm'on Vlad' thread gets bumped. Jays win, or Vlad has a couple hits neither thread gets bumped. Vlad hits a homerun at over 108 mph neither thread gets bumped for 10 days. Those are the rules. If this thread annoys you hope Vlad stops playing like 38 year old Miguel Cabrera and more like 29 year old Miguel Cabrera.
