  1. It was tongue in cheek. He's just been awful and I don't think he's on the roster if we have any sort of reasonable depth in the minors. But you're right, given what we have, he's worth a flyer with the slider.
  2. They're overpaying Zach Pop by about $900k.
  3. You shouldn't have brought up that game in 2020 as "idiotic" as you've completely undermined your own argument with a horrible example. The Jays did exactly the right thing in that game given their available pitching staff. You're speaking like you are in the dugout and know exactly the thought process went - how do you know the Jays haven't incorporated this into their game time decisions? The answer is, you don't.
  4. I'm not sure about the whole "doesn't perform under pressure" thing, but the multiple examples of lackadaisical base running when everything was on the line really pissed me off. The big red flag for me is the physical preparation he's displayed paired with his big bones and natural appetite. There's no way you go $400M for this guy, but that's just my opinion and I'm glad I'm not making the call on this one. My fear is that he goes on to another team and puts together a hall of fame hitting resume. I'll then get to read, on a daily basis, the ranting and raving from the resident peanut gallery (who said he should be salary dumped 7 months ago) about how they knew this is how things would turn out.
  5. A "fantastic situation?" Hahaha! This is unintentional comedy.
  6. I haven't given up on Ricky T!
  7. Also, thanks for the great content Davy, looking forward to your future pieces.
  8. Yeah 100%. His contact along with his glove should make him a pretty decent option in the infield. I actually thought he looked great at SS in the limited time he played there. I just looked it up and he had 314 innings at short with a 13.3 UZR/150 and 4 OAA. The concern with Ernie is that he's more of a well known quantity now and pitchers will be looking to further exploit his Vlad Guerrero Sr swing zone. If he ends up being a 80 wRC+ bat, he's really just a depth option and that's a pretty likely outcome.
  9. Ricky was awesome to watch on the basepaths and got a ton of adoration from the broadcasters during the playoffs. Ricky was the absolute greatest of all time on the basepaths, but I do remember him underperforming expectations after coming over. To be fair, I was a little kid, but a little kid who had almost every pro player's stats memorized (I had a sick Topps baseball card collection that year.)
  10. If I recall correctly, when AA took over the Braves had an unreal farm system (8 or 9 of the top 100 prospects) and was the undisputed #1 in the bigs in farm rankings. I love AA, and he made some great moves, but he was also taking over at the exact right time. But again, he has done some great work for sure.
  11. I agree on Anderson. He’d be a low cost wildcard and we need to roll the dice on some bets like this.
  12. I appreciate the honesty regarding traffic/users. I'm sure we all want to keep the conversation active and lively here, especially when the off-season moves at the same pace as the lineup at the passport office. Perhaps the happy medium is posting higher 'quality' rumors if there IS such a thing from more reputable sources. That way we're not seeing a bunch of random twitter rumors from emoboy85 that carry no weight and are essentially click spam.
  13. There will actually be pretty nice depth in there with some upside with Yariel/Bloss. Manoah will be a late season wildcard - I believe he's expected back late season in Aug/Sept.
  14. 100% agree. This is really turning me off the main page.
  15. Haha, yeah, I can't even imagine the offensive stats he'd need to put up for a 9 WAR season net of his awful defense and essentially league worst baserunning.
  16. This is really the only route they can go on the pitching side if they still want to improve the roster. Should be some decent deals out there as we get closer to spring training, and they have a low bar to improve on the names currently in the pen. Do that, and then take a flyer on a buy low, high risk, SP depth name.
  17. Does every conversation have to end up being "us vs them", "shatkins fans", etc.? I think we all want to see some organizational changes, but it also doesn't mean that everything the management team does is "idiotic". Can we just, at least, semi-intelligently discuss baseball and share some opinions?
  18. The greatest Christmas movie! Enjoy the scotch (and let me know what you're drinking this year!)
  19. Merry Christmas to all!
  20. It’s a Christmas Miracle!
  21. I am loving this thread boys.
  22. I wouldn't have minded picking up Bellinger's contract given some of the options out there, but didn't he have a no-trade clause? Maybe I'm remembering wrong.
