  1. Small sample for sure, but yeah Wagner's contact ability has been pretty impressive and he does seem to have a pretty refined approach at the plate. I'm just not sure he's ever going to generate any kind of meaningful power, which is fine, as long as he keeps getting on base. He's never really slugged at any level (hasn't hit >10 HRs at any level) and he's already 26 which makes me think he's not going to grow into any more power. I just hope he can play a passable 2B. I'm not sure why, because Devon Travis was definitely a different player, but Wagner makes me think back to how excited I was about Travis after his first season with the Jays.
  2. A 101 WRC+ is not a “dog s*** hitter” though is it? An elite defender at a premium position that can be a league average hitter is pretty damn valuable.
  3. I’m not angry, I just find you whiny. As for the peaks and valleys, he’s 500 PA in so maybe focus on his body of work over the entirety of the season to-date.
  4. Are you a local celebrity? He’s a 101 wrc+ hitter you whiny nitwit.
  5. That’s what you get from Jonn. Stupid posts. Apparently PEDs don’t work in sports.
  6. You’re the same guy who said he was a worthless player that should be “punted to the moon” during the off season. Varsho looks like a 4 WAR centre fielder this year. So tired of your moronic takes.
  7. Holy s***. Shades of Donaldson right there.
  8. I would think two of Horwitz/Clement/Wagner have a decent shot at contributing next year. There is way too much "average to slightly above average hitter" / "low value defensive position or poor defender" depth in the org right now. Rather than stocking two or three of these guys in AAA for depth and watch them age out of any future potential upside that another org may see, we should probably be moving one or two of these guys for some relief pitching (or maybe a hitter on a fair value contract as a pseudo salary dump).
  9. Yup. We got bigger roster issues to worry about then Bassitt’s last year.
  10. I'm quite impressed how readily the non team science members have adopted the flat earthers label.
  11. Francis could be some incredible found money. With all these aging, high-priced arms in the rotation we desperately needed someone to provide some performance for league minimum dollars. If he can keep up this run through year-end and if some of these young bats stay at a 2 WAR type pace, I'm cautiously optimistic about our chances to compete for a wildcard next year if we put $50M into bats/one SP/RP dumpster diving.
  12. I agree with you and your buddy, but there also aren't many organizations just pumping out starting pitchers with long & successful careers. I think what's more shocking is that they haven't had many Romero/Marcum/Manoahs. Guys who have a few years of success in the bigs before the wheels fall off due to injury or underperformance.
  13. That was my takeaway as well. Especially when he said he "loves the guy he plays with" and he would want to protect them not hurt them with any further comment.
  14. That's a good point. His position also seems like more of an advisory role where he's one of several senior voices in the room when decisions/direction need to be decided. Ultimately, Atkins has had final say regardless of how often he uses buzz terms like "collaborative approach" and "collaborative management". Who knows what Click has advocated/opposed.
  15. This is next level hot
  16. Yeah, exactly. Too early to conclude, but lets give plate appearances and let him provide more results for evaluation. It doesn't matter if the odds are against him being the next Teo, just keep rolling the dice on these young guys because we need some league minimum starters if we have any chance of competing in the coming years.
  17. Yup. Judge has a wRC+ of 214....That's approaching prime Barry Bonds stratosphere. Incredible season.
  18. Oh man, right to the noggin.
  19. I knew he'd get a painfully bad adjustment, but worst of any player? Just curious what the source is?
  20. He'll opt out and go to free agency again for his age 32 season. If he's lucky, he might even put together a contract (together with this year) that somewhat approaches what the Jays reportedly offered.
  21. No kidding. Not sure what his market will be, but that would be a big overpay that the Jays should avoid.
  22. The power is super impressive. Hopefully the plate approach improves, but he's sure got time for it at this age.
  23. Well, let's see how the team looks and how it projects. I'm not sure if that isn't 'reality' but I think it's a reasonable approach so long as Rogers continues to spend. And if they only sign a couple FA with $55M, hopefully they're impact players...
