  1. Ok. Great job on the math Jim!
  2. It's kind of a silly simplistic exercise he's trying to run us through - there are obviously many factors beyond what was listed (many are not foreseeable) that could impact the Jay's playoff hopes. Any estimate at us making the playoffs is a crapshoot of an exercise, but it's obviously much higher than a couple %, lol. I would say they have a pretty decent shot if they can find a way to add another bat.
  3. This was my first thought as well. Most of these guys will be fortunate to have a cup of coffee at the MLB level. Looking forward to the write-up on the next batch of prospects.
  4. Jesus, he might be a submarine pitcher by the time his contract is over. Great article!
  5. Yup, there's a whole lot of righties out there. There is definitely no need to force any moves. Any guess what Scott Alexander might sign for? He's coming off a decent season, but he's 35. 1 year at $3-4m?
  6. I'm not sure where you're going with this, but isn't that $50M in deferred/retained salaries pretty much all final year contracts that were traded by the Jays for prospects last year? Before the Alonso contract, it looked like the Jays had a grand whopping total of $1M *gasp* in deferred/retained money for 2025 per Sportrac. The $50M you're trying to point to is all gone my friend. Sportrac (the data source of your post) broke out that $50M as any salaries that were allocated to players no longer on the team and included: $10.6M - Justin Turner $8.7M - KK $7M - IKF $6.6 - Kickuchi $3.9M - Yimi $3.7M - Biggio $3.6M - Mayza It's not ACTUAL deferred money that impacts the Jay's future spending. Tell me I'm wrong (seriously, I don't mind being wrong).
  7. Another breaking story reported by Winnie the Pooh
  8. Based on dollars, performance, and age, I'm going with Pivetta. This article echos my fears on Quintana's underlying numbers and his inability to miss bats, but I'm guessing he'll come relatively cheap given the current market for arms. I'd love Flaherty even if his durability is a bit suspect, but I don't think the Jays are going to win a bid for him.
  9. Aw man.... I was really hoping he'd sign here just so I could enjoy the jokes.
  10. It's time for Vladdy to join the 40-40 club!
  11. Can you go grab a sign and yell outside somewhere else? I get enough of this ******** everywhere else. It'll be a damn shame if I have to listen to it here too.
  12. Do we need this in a baseball chat? Please save your politics for elsewhere.
  13. Yeah, I agree, we might end up with some reasonable value there relative to what the other arms have been signing for.
  14. Don’t expect him to, he just likes to whine about everything.
  15. Just imagine Ross walking around the office today.
  16. Honestly, I haven't seen anyone tarred and feathered like that since.... well... just about everyday here for Jaysblue.
  17. That's a very good question.
