  1. He should be publicly shamed.
  2. Exactly. As far as I can recall, I believe the Jays have the largest TV viewership in MLB (even higher than the Yankees), but somehow receive one of the lowest amounts in baseball for their broadcast rights. Makes sense, right Rogers? Good ol' fashioned third party transaction! In any event, the Jays are on far stronger financial footing than most realize. It's really just whether uncle Edward Rogers wants to bank more or spend more.
  3. He does make some fair points and I agree that Horwitz looks like a genuine big leaguer. However, if it wasn't for Bowden Francis (at age 28) catching lightening in a bottle through the second half, this would have been a f***ing disastrous year for prospect development. Wagner and Bloss wouldn't even be here if the team hadn't collapsed. It is beyond incriminating that there wasn't even a single RP prospect to effectively step up when we were throwing s*** against the wall in the second half of games through they end of the year.
  4. I like how you broke this down. If the 10 rating is objectively against the other 29 teams, I would only mildly quibble with a couple things. Resources: 8/10 Prospects: 1/10 2025 chances: 6/10 2025 to 2028 chances: 4/10 (upgraded if Vlad signs long-term) Front office talent: 5/10 Fanbase/support: 7.5/10 I see Prospects (sadly) as potentially being as low as 1/10 right now and fanbase/support being a 7, but probably a 8/10 given the unique size of the GTA and Canadian market.
  5. In some cultures that's actually a term of endearment
  6. Imagine! A high priced FA signing that didn't work out perfectly! I think at the time, Springer was a decent gamble and unfortunately the contract came with one more year than I would have liked. That's the reality of the free agent market. If you want to land impact players you have to put your big boy pants on and take some risks. I wouldn't assume the guy is washed either, he could very well be a 2 - 2.5 WAR outfielder and still provide some value on the field. In addition (vetrin presents), the guy seems like a great teammate and brings some much needed experience to the club.
  7. The fan support is impressive. The Jays are outdrawing the Orioles by almost 5K a game, which is insane given the difference in on-field product. If the Jays had constructed a playoff team, and with all the renovations, I have no doubt they would have been top 5 in attendance this year.
  8. Alexa, play Circus Theme Song.
  9. I think that's right - you're going to get way more offensive bang for your buck adding a LF bat and a 1B/DH type in free agency and trades. I would guess Clement will be projected as a 2 WARish player in 2025 based on the defense and the slightly below average bat. That plays when you have all these easier holes to fill and still leaves some flexibility to experiment with Vladdy at that corner.
  10. You're really throwing out some conspiracies this week.
  11. Don't worry, our relief pitchers are on the same page.
  12. That is a crime against humanity
  13. I hear ya, but most fans prefer Bo to be dreamy rather than creamy.
  14. You are victorious my friend. Hahaha!
  15. He sure is.
  16. The prospect juice? I read on fangraphs that the top 100 prospects from the last few decades have accounted for ~60% of the league's WAR over that same period. I can virtually guarantee that the overwhelming majority of the value from those players was realized during their pre-free agency years. Everyone knows that most prospects bust. You have to reframe it as a probability game with a weighted outcome scenario - the prospects that hit are worth an absurd amount to franchises. That means you're taking long odds on those 'individual prospects' for the potential of a big payoff or two that pays for all heartaches and disappointments. Prospects sure as hell matter.
  17. I loled at God's plan. Very comprehensive.
  18. Same. I am ashamed of myself for calling our ace a potential SP4.
  19. Hahaha, exactly. Hard to s*** on the Jays here given 28 other organizations also passed on Roman (sick name btw). Kudos to Boston's draft team, that turned out to be a hell of a pick.
  20. It’s definitely the silver lining on this relatively conservative FO. Some of the best moves are the ones you don’t make. I was also in the extend Jansen camp and was fawning over his first 100 ABs this year. I’m not sure what he signs for in the offseason but it’s a big risk for any team that goes 3-4 years for him. I’m very curious so see how the market views him.
  21. 100%. Now is the time to see if Vlad can be equally bad defensively at 3rd as he is at 1st (but not worse) and take advantage of his one positive fielding attribute, his arm. If he's just as bad at 3B as 1B his WAR goes up due to positional adjustment (not insignificantly) and 1B opening up creates way more flexibility for the roster and for free agency. It would be a painful infield with Vlad next to Bo, but if they could add legitimate 1B and LF bats, they could go from a mediocre offense to a pretty good one in a hurry. Ignore the batting order as I didn't put a lot of thought into it, but this could actually look pretty good: Bo Bichette (SS) - assume his bat comes back to life Vlad Guerrero (3B) BIG BAT (LF) BIG BAT (1B) TBD (DH) - cycle players through here, including Vlad/Horwitz/TBD Horwitz/Wagner (2B) Varsho (CF) Springer (RF) Kirk ©
