  1. You and me both spanks. We can’t have year end awards without Spanky winning something. Maybe an induction into the Hall of Fame.
  2. Max Scherzer and John Schneider will throw hands. Max Scherzer will be in the dugout for the next game sporting a black eye. Andrés Giménez puts up a higher WAR this season than Bo Bichette. Orioles rotation is an unmitigated disaster. First one is probably too bold, last one not bold enough.
  3. That's an elite dad joke right there
  4. There are some remarkable stats gurus here, and I've learned a lot just from reading this forum over the years. But forget the long ball and the declining stuff, I don't think this guy is going to get a ton of starts and I highly doubt we see him on a playoff roster. "Veteran presence" may be an overused and overrated call for aged superstars, but I believe culture matters. You can't convince me that the Jays staff didn't have a bit more swagger last year from having the legendary Mad Max in their midst. The team will benefit from his aura.
  5. This guy is worse than my wife
  6. This lineup’s heat is definitely dependent on George delaying Father Time and Okamoto being mlb legit.
  7. I don’t think anyone is losing sleep over the Santander loss, but I hope he recovers well and can eventually hit some dingers for the team. Seems like a good teammate and that’s a tough injury. I’m more than a little concerned about Bieber. Hopefully it’s a combination of overuse and the team practicing caution in playing the long game for the season. It’s a huge drop from a healthy Bieber to Berrios.
  8. It makes sense. The Royals have just tinkered around the edges of their roster and the division is full of mediocre teams. If things end up going sideways for the Tigers they'll get a massive haul for Skubal at the deadline. If the season goes well, they have some high-end talent in their farm that would allow them to compete with anyone at the deadline for trade deadline upgrades. I'm just happy the O's didn't get Framber.
  9. Seranthony was patient and got a pretty decent contract. Makes me like the Jays early signing of Rogers for 3-years $37M even more.
  10. Now imagine the versatility if you added prime Zobrist!
  11. From a pure baseball perspective, I think Term is right and the juice isn't worth the squeeze after factoring in dollars and trade value. However, we should also factor in how much joy we'll have with Lars Newtbeard's name over the course of the season. We're just scratching the surface with gems like Nootribullet.
  12. Yup, couldn't agree more. I just had a feeling Bo wasn't going to be back and frankly, I'm ok with it. I didn't like the way he showed up in spring training (plumped up), the massive deterioration in his baserunning, and his reported stubbornness about moving off SS. Everyone has already said it, but man I am convinced his tools would age horribly on a long-term contract. Maybe he'll prove me wrong. The offseason isn't quite over yet, but it does feel like we are one legit bat away from entering the pre-season with a serious swagger.
  13. Merry Christmas to Spanky and everyone!!
  14. Having too much starting depth always seems to work itself out. Hopefully with Bieber it's just a matter of continuing his rehab/strengthening and some rest and recovery after really pushing it post-trade. Everyone is in a hurry to deal Berrios and eat money, but as long as he's not holding us back from strengthening the bats, I'm perfectly happy to keep Berrios at this point for in-season starter depth.
  15. Ain't no one trading for this 34 year old version of Castellanos. He's had a nice career, but I'd be surprised if the guy could even find a roster spot elsewhere at league minimum - any team that could play Castellanos would be better off playing a youngster.
  16. I take Garcia and Little over Rodriguez on the relief side. Francis is a gamble to see if he recovers form after his shoulder issues, and clearly the Jays have given up on Rodriguez as a starter option. A big part of this move was likely a calculated gamble. Roll the dice and see if someone would eat his salary and free up some dollars.
  17. Stop getting me all worked up. It would be absolutely sensational if Ricky T. can push his way to the MLB and be another low-cost high-stuff guy in the rotation. Now imagine if Johnny King develops a decent change-up and starts rising through the minors. True prospect porn.
  18. His walk rate is way down from his high K years and he put up a 3.28 SO/BB ratio last year. With his velo down, hitters are finally hitting some HRs off him (not at an alarming rate). I think he's a solid arm to add, but wouldn't want him on anything past a two year deal unless it's a team option. This will be his age 32 season and If his velo continues to decline he could turn into a pumpkin. 1 year at $9M would be a yes please.
