When was the last time we had a clean 9th in a save situation? No baserunners, no stress, what is this?!

Great win!

It feels like it was 2022...it seems incredibly rare these days.

Lol at it being Popkins' fault that a lineup featuring Lenyn Sosa, Eloy Jimenez and Brandon Valenzuela isn't scoring enough runs

He's a good MLB coach not a miracle worker

Yeah seriously, the lineups have been ass with all the injuries. Then you have Lukes with vertigo getting plate appearances for some reason, Heineman/Valenzuela being the catching tandem for the foreseeable future, Okamoto coming over from Japan (so adjusting to the bigs), Sosa/Eloy being depth pieces, etc. Besides that, the actual MLB talent not on the IL (Vlad, Gimenez, Varsho, Clement, Sanchez) are all performing within reasonable levels. Anyone expecting Popkins to turn one of us into big league hitters is going to be disappointed.

It's been me ripping Popkins.  I'm just stirring the pot 😂

Some of us have been calling for this since early last season when we hoped we'd land a closer during last seasons trade deadline.

Well, we did with Varland :P

Looking back, it’s too bad they never tried Varland in that role last summer when Hoffman was struggling, but oh well. Who knows what might have been.

Regardless, Varland looks fantastic in the role early on, and Hoffman seems much more comfortable in the seventh inning. The bullpen just feels and looks a lot better this way.

well I guess they found a spot for Hoffman, bridge to the closer.  I wonder if he can pitch like this in the 8th

If he keeps looking like tonight, for sure he'll get opportunities. The Jays have Rogers anyways, so nice to have options and different looks in the late innings!

Kinda just shouting into the void then? Because nobody really cares about what you have to say, other than to tell you you’re an idiot.

Anyways… thanks for contributing to the thread I guess? Lets do all this again tomorrow

Haha I have plenty of interaction with folks here.  Funny how you think talking smack on this board makes you special.

Seems like a few of you have nothing else going on in your lives other than this board.  Hope its on your resume at least lol.

It's tantalizing to think about, but remember, Louis was coughing up HRs last season as well.

Fortunately, they are performing well so far in their new digs.

It’s true, though - whenever someone on the board disagrees with or criticizes anything, they usually get tarred and feathered by the same majority of posters.

2-3 years ago, I was public enemy No. 1 for some reason just because I questioned a few things and criticized parts of the organization.

That’s the whole point of a message board: discussion and interaction. Not everyone is going to agree on everything, and honestly, it would be no fun if they did.

Is Jays24 really that bad of a poster? Come on. I’ve seen far worse, especially from trolls who derail entire threads. Does he say things people disagree with? Sure. Does he say things that are wrong sometimes? Of course. Everyone does. It’s a message board.

I think the issue is that collectively the backups have something a 50 OPS+ and are running .220 on base percentages... part of the road to a good season is the guys that suck just sort of suck, and put 80 OPS+ .280 on base not 10 OPS+.

Not saying it's Popkin's fault, just that the hope is a good hitting coach gets everyone to their so called true talent level.  Get the back up catchers up to .220 .280 .350 or something.   Could all be just random of course.

Can't remember who hit homers off him in the regular season, but Varland had a 4.94 ERA for Jays in regular season.   Around 4.00 in the playoffs, but in the playoffs he faced middle of the order a lot.  Judge, Jazz, Polanco and Cal Raleigh all hit big homers off him to win or potentially win games..

The Jays 2025 season just so improbable.   Varland had a tough job.  Opposition best hitters every night, inevitably Judge/Raleigh will get you if facing them every night.   At the same time, he gave some big homers that could have been classics had the other team won... but Jays came through in ALDS and ALCS.

Honestly - you're no longer public enemy #1 because you've improve significantly as a contributor to this board.  You nowhere near the guy you were 3-4 years ago - which is good.

Every day one of you losers whines about the cool kids on the message board bullying you or someone else.

Well guess what - some people are just smarter and better than you in life. And when you say dumb things, those people will pick on you. That's human nature.

If this was real life, you acne crusted anime-watchers would be off in your own corner and we would not have to tell you that you are stupid and annoying all the time. But this is not real life and you are here in our faces all the time, saying dumb stuff and being annoying as hell, so it is what it is. You get what you get and you don't get upset.

You'd have more fun if you made your own WhatsApp chat for "Sweaty Jays Fans" or whatever spent most of your time there. Because we will always be here, running this place.

Berrios' line looked pretty bad today in his rehab start.

Really need Corbin to keep contributing.

Do yourself a favor and avoid the Statcast box score if you haven't seen it already. Berrios was sitting at 90 MPH in his final inning and surrendered 11 hard hit balls. Hopefully this is more of a 1 off vs an omen of what to expect of him this season.

Need Lauer to be good tomorrow, not the puss we've seen so far, like where did that 1st start of the season go? I feel a series W on the horizon.

To be fair Lauer was pitching with the flu for several of his starts and might have had something going on with his neck last time out.

Yeah I recall Louie went through a bit of a rough patch shortly after he came over to the Blue Jays. It's good to see he's been incorporating more of his arsenal as the changeup looks downright filthy this season. He was a key cog in the pen last season in the fireman role and without his nearly daily appearances in leverage spots throughout the game who knows if the team even makes it to the world series.

Yes he is a very bad poster. But not because of his baseball takes or anything. It's because probably half his posts on this forum are him complaining that everyone here except him acts poorly, treats him unfairly, and are a "hivemind" who just don't understand the game as deeply as him. It's a level of narcissism that's extremely grating to pretty much everyone who reads it.

The flu I can buy for a start, not several, the kinesiology tape was used to remind him to stay in his posture whatever that means, he's been down nearly 4 MPH on his fastball throwing BP, he gets no to be fair shyte from me, just pitch better and stop whining like Jays24.
