He literally walked as often as he struck out last year and hasn't had a K% over 18.8 in the past 6 years.

Claiming he doesn't see the strike zone and citing 1 ABS challenge as "proof" that your observation is correct, 5 games into the season, is dumb.  Sorry.

Why be sorry for pointing out a stupid statement is stupid?

5 of 6 starts have been quality starts so far, and the only one that wasn't was because Ponce blew up his leg in the 3rd inning of what was shaping up to be yet another quality start.

All that with Bieber, Yesavage and Berrios on the IL.

Precisely. If anything, Atkins deserves major credit for bolstering the rotation the way he did just in case something exactly like this happened.

The Ponce thing though... gut punch to the guy for sure.

Frigging sucks for him, Ponce seems like such a good dude. Definitely rooting for him still and hope he can be a full-time fixture in the rotation next season.

Not to get ahead a year, but next years rotation will probably look a lot like this years rotation, to be honest. I'm sure the Jays will go big game hunting for Skubal, but if that falls through most of the Jays upcoming FA SP's just love the Jays and probably won't be hard to re-sign. Gausman obviously, Bieber has raved about the Jays org, and Scherzer if he's still good and doesn't retire also loves the Jays. Lauer might be the only one who would run for the hills, due to his arb experience.

Either way though, Cease, Yesavage, Ponce and Berrios isn't too bad of a starting point for building a rotation anyways.

That's if there is any MLB next season. :(

The only silver lining is at least it was his knee, not the arm.

********, he wasn't in the majors last year, the Japanese stats can be misleading.  That he's walked just means that he's not swinging the bat.

Wow that’s the stupidest thing I’ve seen on here in months. Congrats

Yeah but you claimed he’s not swinging the bat and doesn’t know the strikezone, which isn’t true

Cal Raleigh has 15 Ks in 25 at bats. Aaron Judge 11 Ks.

What bums, they should go back to Japan

I was tarred and feathered for saying "regular season Vlad is back!" after his TOOTBLAN but it's true

He has a 171 wRC+ but it's hilariously all groundball singles

His xwOBA is .281. Zero barrels. Pulling nothing in the air. Hitting almost everything on the ground. Not even hitting enough hard ground balls.

And this is against some real nincompoop pitchers.

I don't understand what he found last post-season and now can't replicate.

Focus and pre-game prep perhaps.  He certainly had it during the WBC.

2 years, $55M total extension for Gausman. Do it Ross!

2 years around $20-25M AAV I think is the sweet spot. Don't think you need to paying Gausman anything more than $25M per season.

If all goes well he should be able to return pretty soon, maybe three weeks? Could be less as sending him on a rehab assignment starts a 30-day clock so the Jays must think he's pretty close.

Certainly less than 3 weeks, it's good that he's close.

From too many starters to Patrick Corbin coming to save the day loll.  Seriously though, good that theyre being proactive.  Now use that proactive attitude towards our offense.

It should have been obvious as f*** that our offense + our closer was going to be our biggest weakness, and so far its been our offense + Little.
