I feel like it should be pretty good. Fangraphs ranked us as the 12th best bullpen entering the year and that seems about right.

• Hoffman projects well and should be about a Top 10ish Closer.
• Full season of Varland to go with Tyler Rogers (with this infield defense) are two damn good setup men.
• Little's velo spike could be something
• Fisher, Nance and Fluharty all seem like very serviceable middle relievers
• I don't expect much out of Miles but he's worth a look and Chase Lee is good depth
• Yimi should make is debut before too long and each of our injured starters should help the bullpen when they are back. Max said he'd pitch some out of the pen and I'm sure we could see Lauer, Ponce, and Trey getting some innings there at times as well.

By the time the deadline hits we will probably need to trade for a setup guy or maybe a Closer.

F*ckin' right it does, that was a tough decision, and one I question, the Babe had a horrible ST could've optioned him to get it going in Buffalo or Lukes before DFA'ing Jimenez now, Hopefully he doesn't get picked up, Laika's right this could be Otto Lopez all over again. To each their own I guess, but I'm with you on the premise of it.

Alright, it's opening day.  What are the expectations for everyone this year?  What would you be happy with as a result for the Jays?  Is it nothing but winning it all that will make you happy?   Would you be happy with making the playoffs and having some success but ultimately falling short?  Would success be measured by seeing some growth from some young players and Kaz?

 

I'm curious what everyone thinks.  I'm personally kind of in the World Series or bust mode after last year even though I know that's not going to be easy.

Same here. I know it's so unlikely but so was the KC Royals going back and winning it in 2015.

Win the American League. I think anything short of that would be disappointing for fans and the players. The Jays have shown they’re in win now mode so if they’re in it you know they will be adding at the deadline to an already very good team. Watching the Jays play real playoff baseball for the first time in a decade was so awesome, let’s hope we get it again this year

I just watched the jays postseason highlights again, Vladdy's highlights, Springer's ALCS bomb. I'm ready to go. We were still the better team, deserved the W but it is what it is. We can rewrite history this year, let's do it.

Nah it could be the opposite.

"we like Kasevich if we need a long-term solution, and we will try to add some other MiLB deal shitbag to cover an emergency, short term bench role"

Last year Jays were great value. I remember Term earlier in the offseason floating that idea. Jays were 70 to 1 back in November 2024. Imagine what they were when they started off poorly last April? 

At 17 to 1, not sure it's worth keeping your money tied up for that long. You're better off betting the Jays during the season or wait if they get off to a slow start, the odds will be better for the World Series.
