I'm sure IKF is beating himself up pretty badly cause that one play you could draw a direct correlation to an outcome. Varsho had a tough few games but if IKF had even a fraction of a bigger lead and didn't make the boneheaded move of sliding into home plate he scores and Varsho is credited with driving in the winning run. I had the inkling that the inability to plate more of the wealth of scoring chances they had earlier in the game might come back to bite the team in the ass and that was definitely the case. dineke Old-Timey Member Posted November 2, 2025 Posted November 2, 2025 It just sucks that they could improve the team next year and still not make it back here. Vlad and clement had all time postseasons and a bunch of other stuff broke our way this postseason. Just ran out of luck in the last 2 games. Hopefully rogers will keep giving the budget necessary for shatkins to keep this team in postseason contention for the next 10 years. Even then though a ws is not guaranteed just look at the Yankees. This was a devastating missed opportunity no way to sugarcoat it. Pinkfloid and Jays24 1 1
Pinkfloid Verified Member Posted November 2, 2025 Posted November 2, 2025 It feels like the IKF play isn't getting much traction now but it feels like he will wind up getting the majority of the blame in the near future. He's not likely coming back (I hope) so it could be good that the remaining guys on the team don't have to worry about the fanbase being upset with them long-term. I feel like we will obtain a good closer for next year and Hoffman will be a setup guy. He sounded humble after the loss so I doubt he pushes back too much on that idea for next year.

I don't think the moment was too big for most of the players, so just ran out of luck at the worst time.

At the end of the day IKF showed repeatedly during this post season that he's simply not a championship caliber player. It's really a damn shame that Hoffman hung a slider to the number 9 hitter as he had a tremendous post season and hadn't allowed a home run in 2 months of play. At any rate it's bound to be a fun post season with so many rotation holes to fill, and I do tend to think that the certainty of Vlad being signed long term along with the near world series miss should make it a little easier for the front office to attract premium talent in free agency. Masterbather Verified Member Posted November 2, 2025 Posted November 2, 2025 Just completely empty. Zero satisfaction from the entire run right now. That won't change. All the things that had to go right for us to get to this point, a game that was completely winnable. Hitting with runners in scoring position was such a massive strength for us and it completely dried up the last couple of days. The lights got too bright for some of them. They were basically blinding Varsho. Dodgers played like s*** in this world series, and they still f***ing win. They still somehow managed to be just clutch enough to crawl over the finish line. Believe9293 Verified Member Posted November 2, 2025 Posted November 2, 2025 Very tough pill to swallow. So many chances where they could have won it but fell short. Will it take a while for me to get over this? Maybe but this too shall pass. One thing I confirmed from this postseason run is my love for the Jays. I’ll be there though thick and thin. Hopefully our time comes but I will be here for the ride. Pinkfloid and jaysblue 1 1

All of us are emotionally gutted right now, but are you seriously stating you derive zero satisfaction from this improbable post season run? This team was viewed as a wild card contender at best and not only won the division, but won the ALDS, ALCS and came painfully close to winning a world series title. I seriously hope you aren't going to tell me that you still would have rather seen the Blue Jays lose to the Yankees in the ALDS. Fastball21, Believe9293, Spanky__99 and 3 others 5 1
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted November 2, 2025 Posted November 2, 2025 When they got past Seattle I felt so happy and even felt almost OK that if they lost to the Dodgers in 6 or 7 that's still a really good season. But after coming home with TWO chances to win it, and both games winnable.... if a few players had just done just a BIT more right they found have pulled it off. It's very upsetting that they couldn't get the job done. So many amazing moments and victories in the post season but I'll always feel like they could have won it all this year but fell 1/10th of a centimeter short. Fastball21 Verified Member Posted November 2, 2025 Posted November 2, 2025 Jays doing what they've done all year, play well for a few games and then...Bases loaded twice no runs, homerun given up to the #9 hitter a rookie with only 7 dingers all year, runners in scoring position in the 11th and hit into a double play, still very proud of this team but this was a series we should have won. I was far more nervous and excited for the last two series than most of the WS. Until games 5+ anyway then it got intense lol. Didn’t have much expectations coming into the WS but they sure as hell showed the ability to compete and out play the dodgers. Best team lost the series for sure. I’d only consider the first Yamamoto start as non-winnable, the rest man we could have easily won with just a couple breaks here and there!! Crazy season Stangstag 1

The bunt should have never been taken off. Springer has a much different approach at the plate in that situation if he a runner on third. But yea he ended up striking out in his final 3 at-bats. Giminez moment that will actually stick out to me. Is his ridiculous reaction to thinking they are intentionally throwing at him when the last thing the Dodgers want to do in that situation is put the #9 hitter on base. He literally caused a base clearing brawl that sparked a lifeless Dodger team for no reason. I also really didn't like the use of Shane Bieber in this Baseball game and can't even compare to the Dodgers usage of their starters who are all stuff guys. Bieber being a command and feel guy. There was multiple relievers on the team I would have went to before considering using Bieber. Fisher, Fluharty, Lauer were all there as guys who have done that so many times this year successfully. At the end of day failure to execute by getting a ball to the Outfield is just brutal. Imagine getting that Ernie fly ball in any of those situations with less than 2 outs the game would be over. The defensive positioning of the Dodgers was incredibly stupid on that fly ball to begin with. Its actually insane Pages made that catch. Fastball21, Jays24 and jaysblue 3

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 2, 2025 Posted November 2, 2025 A Toronto fan since the late 80s, growing up as a kid in an 3rd world country. Listening the games on the radio since we didn't have cable TV. I'm 44 years old and I know I won't see my favorite team win another championship ring. Things were in place for them to win this year: A hitting coach who transformed a group of mediocre hitters into productive hitters. Bichette hit .370 after the All-Star break. Springer had his best season at 45. Vladdy, Clement, and Barger were in elite form during the playoffs. Trey pitched like one of the best pitchers in the game. A team defense like no other. This was my last chance to see my team win. My WhatsApp is full of messages from people I know and love, trying to comfort me as if a family member had died. I think I'll be away from this forum for a while. It's a blow that will take time to heal. jaysblue, Spanky__99, Gen.Disarray and 2 others 2 1 2

Nexii Verified Member Posted November 2, 2025 Posted November 2, 2025 Hell of a season, couldn't ask for more exciting games. A shame I missed many parts live because I've been recovering from surgery. But at least I got to see all of Game 7. Jays really need to improve the baserunning in the offseason. For a team that isn't slow they ranked poorly (25th) and I could believe them being even worse. Crazy to think something so overlooked was the difference between the Jays and Dodgers. Stangstag 1

bluejaysinternNo5 Verified Member Posted November 2, 2025 Posted November 2, 2025 If it was a coaching decision to play IKF close to the bag then it really was a case of "playing not to lose" and not playing to win. Game 6 - Kike ignores his positioning card, playing shallower than intended and ends up making that crucial catch. Guess trusting your instincts like that is a benefit of post season experience.
