Took it on the chin like a man.  Showed good character.  Feel awful for him.  He's human.  So is Schneider.  He made great decisions last night and tonight he doesn't.  Nobody bats 1000.  We've been resilient all year.   We need to be again - and we can.

What a rollercoaster this series has been.  This is the most fun a season has been in several decades for me.

And we finally agree on something.  Just hope Springer can play because we're already down Bo/Santandar man... there's only so much we can overcome here.

Jays have done a horrible job of not using Lauer in high leverage situations to see if he could be their guy in these spots.  He has done amazing in practically every role so I cant see why he wouldnt be able to do that.  Just let one of their best arms all year go to waste practically because they had no clue what to do with him.

Damn, if only they had asked YOU what to do! If they asked you to manage the pitching staff the Jays would’ve gone 162-0

Missed op!

No I'm asking him to stay "my bad.  Little was not the right reliever in that spot".  Or even, I was told by Barker's khakis to put him in...

No manager is going to say that.  Your expectations are nonsense.  Nobody will meet them.

All these people calling for firing the manager.  Lol.  Yeah let's fire the manager (who's up for manager of the year) in the middle of the ALCS.

All the same people who were wanting Hoffman DFA'd earlier this year now wanted him to pitch instead of the guys who gave it up tonight. Hoffman was pitching the 9th.  You know? The 9th inning, the job of the closer.

A good manager trusts his guys.  It just didn't work out tonight.  S**t happens.  It's baseball.

Everyone but JS and you knew bringing in Little was a mistake. His stats since July have been horrible.

No.  Bad decision bringing in Hoff and Ser last night in low leverage and I said so at the time.  That's why we ended up with Little in high leverage tonight.

Just stupid.

No. We still had the series lead. Physical errors will happen, Aaron Judge hitting a home run that only a cyborg can hit. I can much easier live with those.

But this is a train that many of us have seen coming for months. It's a train that all of us saw coming down the tracks except the manager.

John Schneider. The man who tied us all to the tracks to make sure that we all got run over by the Brendon Little train.

It's the long-term inevitability of crushing death that we all saw coming.

Totally agree... its why ive always repeated that if I go down, I go down with my best.  This front office has never been able to get over itself and are always trying to be too cute.

Even if I wanted Gausman to keep pitching so we could save Varland for later... Hoffman/Dominguez were right there to be used.

10 years ago Little doesn't see the mound in that situation, fast forward to today with non-traditional baseball statics and analytics.

There is no analytics which suggest putting Little in there in that moment. None.

George will play.  We got this.

I'm normally mr don't blame the manager. I usually think they are the lightening rod for the front office.. and most decisions are pretty close to 50/50.

However, this is one of the dumbest pitching changes i've ever seen. Little has not been good for an extended period. All three hitters hit lefties well. His rationale also makes zero sense. If looks mattered then don't pitch your high leverage relievers yesterday in a blowout! Like, none of this makes sense. What an insane decision.

I don't think that's true.  I think Dominguez and Hoffman were fully available tonight.

Haha this isnt even armchair GMing man.  These are very common sense decisions that could have improved our situation.  Anyways, I need to take a timeout to get over this.

Yea this was not an analytics move. I'm pretty sure Raleigh is also a really good low ball hitter as well. It made no sense.

A couple notes/observations from this game:

- Jays need to be up by 4 to 5 runs in the late innings. Having them try to close out a 2-1 or 3-1 game from the 6th inning on is worrisome with this current bullpen and current management. Not sure the Jays can win a 2-1 game in the Postseason.

- John Schneider (or the front office) messed up this one when it came to putting Little in that spot. If every SN commentator was losing their s*** over the decision, you know it was a bad one. Little has been awful this last month. Yes he was great earlier on in the season and definitely was a big piece in the Jays pen during the months of May/June and July. Though in the Postseason, you have to go with your best arms and have to look at recent results.

- This series is still far from over. The Jays just needed to win 2 of 3 in Seattle and they did. They bring the series back to Toronto and as John Schneider said in his post-game conference, the Jays have won 2 games in a row many times this season. They did in Seattle this series. This loss is a tough one given the Jays were in control for most of the game and could have been ONE game away from the World Series instead of TWO now. Though I think before playing these games in Seattle, if you said the Jays could win 2 of 3 and bring it back to Toronto for Game 6, we all would be for that!

Overall, gotta hope the Jays bats come out swinging and score runs on Sunday. I don't have much confidence in a close game with the current BP and some of the management decisions we've seen so far. Regardless, Jays just need to win Game 6 on Sunday and then we worry about Game 7 on Monday!

As JS himself said, Little was brought in tonight to give the top of the M's order a different look.  What i said is correct.

I also feel bad for little. He threw a ton of innings this year and is generally quite wild. It was not fair to him to stick him in a massive spot against guys who mash lefties.

They were available, but JS specifically said he wanted to give that part of the lineup a “different look”

I hate to say this, but this reminds me of when we turned around Carlos Santana a few years ago.  Mayza.  This may become the lasting memory of John Schneider, who, although he's always been much maligned, has been a solid, but not great, manager for a very successful era in Blue Jays history...

Brutal.  Team can't let that happen.  Let's overcome this!

Thats not what the comment was in reference to.

This decision will be our 2025 version of not using Zach Britton?  Obviously not the same because no one in our bullpen was on his level but the level of thinking is similar.

"Hey man I noticed your kid keeps playing with fire, you probably shouldn't let him keep doing that"

"What? No no he's fine, he hasn't burned down the house or anything"

"Yeah but dude if you keep letting your kid play with fire eventually he's going to burn down the house"

"Nah, it's fine he's been playing with fire for months, house is still completely fine."

"Hey what happened to our neighbors?

"Died in a house fire"

We don't even have a reliever with a below 3 era.

Exactly what I posted earlier. Feels the exact same, using a meh reliever vs a switch hitter when the analytics don’t even back it up.
