GoBlue41 Verified Member Posted October 17, 2025 Posted October 17, 2025 You just know that Gausman is chomping at the bit to get back out there and be dominant. I guess it's possible that Miller could over perform again and throw another gem, but I just can't see this offense struggling against him the second time around. I'm just wondering if Gimenez is gonna hit another one and end up wearing that home run jacket on the flight back to Toronto! :) Go Jays! Spanky__99 and L54 2
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2025 Posted October 17, 2025 Think they should get to Miller today. Have Gausman going should be feeling good right now. And getting this series back to Toronto up 3-2 would be an incredible outcome. Afternoon game in Seattle. Expecting the ball to be absolutely flying today.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2025 Posted October 17, 2025 Bryce Miller is not good, I can’t see him stifling the offense again especially now that they are rolling. I would imagine they have Bryan Woo on standby ready to go at the first sign of trouble. At least they should with Gilbert and Kirby lined up for 6&7 Spanky__99 1
SeranthonySantander Verified Member Posted October 17, 2025 Posted October 17, 2025 Even if the mariners don’t win anymore games they have a lot to be proud of. I am considering putting them on my teams to watch list for next year. If they solve their issue with pitchers not wanting to go more than a few innings they could be good.
Laika Community Moderator Posted October 17, 2025 Posted October 17, 2025 Careful, if too many of us say that they should get to Bryce Miller, the witches in Seattle will collect enough power to make him unhittable again Last time out he kind of just did a "dumb" thing that worked because Toronto did not expect it and were not able to adjust. I don't think you can pull that trick again. They may not even plan on Miller being in the game long, he might be a bit of a decoy in front of Woo, who knows? Mariners Bryce Miller was terrific in Game 1 of the ALCS (6 IP, 2 H, ER, 3 BB, 3 K). Continuing on the trend of pitchers changing their mixes, Miller threw a bunch of sinkers to right-handed hitters. His righty fastball mix in August and September was 42% four-seam with 22% sinker. In yesterday’s matchup with the Blue Jays, he threw just 15% four-seam and 36% sinker. The fascinating thing here is that the Blue Jays are far and away the best team in MLB in terms of doing damage against sinkers from right-handed pitchers. Their run value is the highest in the sport (by a large margin), and they whiffed at righty sinkers the least in MLB. Their .288 xBA was highest on the pitch, with a 20-point margin to third place. Pure domination against the pitch, mostly driven by the Blue Jays’ “big three” in Guerrero Jr, Springer, and Bichette. Miller didn’t seem to care, and his approach worked. Shoutout to Ben Resnic on X, who I noticed spotted this trend as well (link). Stangstag 1
infinitebook Verified Member Posted October 17, 2025 Posted October 17, 2025 Worth pointing out the Jays against Miller did have an xBA of .278 and a hard hit% of 47% with a K to walk ratio of 1. Miller pitched well, but there was definitely some luck involved. Orgfiller, Eat My Shatkins, Stangstag and 2 others 5
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2025 Posted October 17, 2025 As far as I'm concerned, they need to treat Miller as the ace of the staff. Jays hitting has demolished elite starting pitching these playoffs. Miller was pretty good as recently as last season, so it's not like this injury plagued year is a fully accurate assessment of his quality. They gotta treat him as if they're facing Gilbert, Kirby, Fried, Rodon, etc. Stangstag, Rynodb1 and Kordesi 3
ComeTogether Verified Member Posted October 17, 2025 Posted October 17, 2025 A win tonight will surpass what the 2015 team achieved in post season (lost 4-2 to Royals). They are already better than the 2016 team (4-1 loss to Indians). Stangstag and max silver 1 1

Quiet the home crowd. Lot of Jays fans will be there, including my parents. Give Gausman some run support. The pressure is getting to the Mariners. They will crack. Governator 1
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2025 Posted October 17, 2025 Thought today would be a good day to get Loperfido or Schneider in but apparently not.

Governator Community Moderator Posted October 17, 2025 Posted October 17, 2025 I just want Gausman to have a clean first inning, then we roll.

Best Rotation AL, elite bullpen, the AL MVP and the best CF AL..... The Mariners are the favorites to win it all,but choke....

Buster Verified Member Posted October 17, 2025 Posted October 17, 2025 I think Gausman will give up 2-4 runs over 6 innings. If that's the target our offense should be able to rise to that. Stangstag 1
