Gimenes is no a bad trade, his defense prevented many runs, and batting 9, he's no harmful.  What is harmful is to have utilities players batting  2,4,5,6, instead of 7,8,9. Ideally Kirk, Clement and Gimenes only batting 7-9. And 1-6 we will have few guys who can hit 30+ HR and have good AVG.

The ball was definitely not out of play. That's one of the worst botched calls you'll ever see from an umpiring crew. I get that it's unusual, but they need to know the rules and apply them properly. The runner is out, there's no nuance to the rules.

I'm most concerned that the FO or manager feels we have a better chance of winning with our average/volatile pen and would rather take a starter out after a set innings or times-through-the-order limit. You need to lean on your starters to have any success. Taking out any pitcher (i don't care of he's a rookie) after 70 pitches in what is essentially a must win game,  while keeping the score close, is maddening.

Everyone in the Jays pen is just kinda average so they aren't going to deplete. That said Yesavage from 70-100 is probably better than anyone they could bring in

For life of me I just will never understand how Shatkins under values the importance of a strong pen. You'll never win a WS with a mediocre pen.

I would also rather lose with my best pitchers on the mound. Maybe it doesn’t work out either way. But why not not let your best pitchers get the biggest outs.

Well especially when they constantly are pulling starters in the 5th inning even if they are doing well. You're setting your team up to fail more than they should.

Suarez was not on the playing field, he was sitting on a metal strip right at the edge of the dugout and not on the dirt (playing field). so the ball hit Suarez who was deemed to be in the dugout

The problem is elite relievers command such a premium when considering IP/WAR. We really need to develop more relievers within. 

And it's not like Hoffman and Garcia are cheap..
