We haven't seen a worse performance from this team this season, period.

Shame on some of these players not being ready to play a horrendous opponent. They did the same thing against the Athletics. Management also deserves blame.

They need to turn this around and it's not going to be due to trades. This is entirely between the ears of these players. Bassitt, Hoffman, Bo, Vlad, etc

The journeymen like Heineman and Clement were prepared and ready to hit some truly awful pitching with tons of hittable stuff. Maybe they need to share some tips with the 'stars'.

Not a huge fan of the bunt there, but let's face it, with Straw hitting against RHP thats probably the only way both guys were getting into scoring position

The pitcher hit a batter, walked in the next batter on 4 pitches, and then started the AB against Straw down 2-0. It was an awful bunt, IMO. The one thing Straw is good at historically is not chasing. I would have at least forced the pitcher to throw a strike first, and then put the bunt play back on. Just gave the guy who couldn't find the strike zone a free out instead of trying to step on his neck.

I won't even comment on that Bichette swing to end it. Fitting way to end an obnoxious game. The Jays are out 5 regulars and the O's can hit, so this is probably not that surprising all things considered.

Adley Rutschman coming back from injury is huge for the Orioles

the intangible leadership and his chemistry with the Orioles pitchers cannot be measured by metrics

Is it also worth finally taking seriously the fact that we have a horrible daytime record.

I know the second game was at night but the second game was competitive.

Do we have too many white guys who can't play in the sun? It's a legitimate question.

If Berrios gets his tits lit up tomorrow, and there's definitely a good possibility that that's going to happen, this board will be in full meltdown mode.

Probably yep. I'm half erect now just thinking about the fun

I think Hoffman is a 7th inning pitcher with his high ERA His ERA is almost the same as Chad Green

Losing Kirk/Springer is just too much to overcome considering we already got 3 regulars out.  Guys better hurry back soon or else Michael Kay will be right about us.

Schneider blowing the lead with 2 months to go would be a fitting end to his stay here.

Holy F*ck, lmao.

I don't know if the Jays are slumping or if the O's are just hot.

They pitched like s*** in all of the games. Tons of straight stuff in the sweet spots that we just couldn't hit.

Our players were not prepared to face one of the league's worst teams, period. They did the same thing against the A's.

Hoffman is not an elite closer. This is Jordan Romano situation all over again

Rumour is Jays after St Louis closer to replace Hoffman

After Helsley yes. To replace Hoffman is your interpretstion. Most times the acquired "closers" become the 8th inning guys ahead of the in-house closer

Painful loss. But lbr we weren't going to stay super hot to the end. We're still a good team and we'll make it

Most times the incumbent closer doesn't deserve to lose his job. Hoffman hasn't performed all season long. Perhaps part of that is his workload, but the point still stands.

Not really true, he was easily the best reliever in the league through April. But he’s hit a skid and had some struggles. ERA is overinflated and he hasn’t been that bad.

i think yall are overestimating how “good” elite closers are

Personally, I’m glad we lost 4 in a row.

Things have been way too easy around here lately and everyone got far too soft.

This team is going on a run in October and I need to know who around here I can trust to have nerves of steel and who is going to be a whiny little b1tch.

Elite ball knower Spanky is making the cut, as usual, but a lot of you are really disappointing me.

Get it together people.

Still tied for first in AL so all good. I don't know why people are freaking out... They took series wins against the toughest teams in the AL and haven't had a break. It's bound to happen, just gnarly schedule. Let's give these guys a homecoming on Friday

I think we are all allowed to get frustrated with the team we love when they don’t play to their potential, if we all had our head up our asses in lala land then this board would be boring, I love the boys just as much as everyone else that’s why they piss me off when they lose to s***** Baltimore 🤷🏻‍♀️

FIP:

Jeff Hoffman: 4.15

David Bednar: 1.96

Jhoan Duran: 2.48

Griffin Jax: 2.00

Cade Smith: 2.11

All of the elite closers at least have a FIP below 4. You need to take Hoffman's season as a whole, this is who he is. Bednar demoted and he's still this good.

I'm certainly not saying he's s*** or can't have a role on this team, but we know beyond a shadow of a doubt that he's not a playoff calibre closer. He's shown us several times that we need someone better, including tonight, where we needed him as badly as we have all season and he was horrendous.
