Fangraphs projects the AL East for the rest of the year to play like this:

NYY 42-34
TBR 39-36
TOR 39-37
BOS 37-37
BAL 38-38

Which would result in these final standings:

NYY 90-72
TOR 87-75
TBR 87-75
BOS 80-82
BAL 75-87

We are currently on Day 10 of 16 with no off days and the pen is spent.

Zero relievers are well rested but you can assume that Fisher, Sandlin, Green and Bruihl are available.

Hoffman, Yariel and Little pitched yesterday and 3 out of the last 4 days. Yimi threw 34 pitches yesterday. Not sure if any of them are available.

It's big boy day for Bassitt.  Fisher to close it out.

A little disappointing that whoever wins the East may still have to play in the Wild Card round since this is the one year the winner of the Central decided not to stink.

Starter IP in the last 4 games:

4.1, 5.0, 5.0, 4.1

The Jays won all of those games, which is great, but can't keep forcing the pen to throw 4-5 innings a night. Bassitt has to go 7 tonight, for better or worse.

If the Jays could somehow land an elite SP before the trade deadline, look out! If the price is too high and if options are limited, just stock up on high K% bullpen arms because they're going to need them if their starters only go 4-5 innings in a short series.

This is the year we need to make a big move at the deadline. Its time.

Yeah Toronto should swing big.

I think the projection systems are underrating the Bench Mob as well.

Adding on to this but Burr pitched yesterday so he's probably not getting the call today. He's been lights out since the May setback. In 4 AAA appearances:  4.1 IP, 0 runs, 3 BBs, 1 hit and 6 Ks

The Yanks have a ton of lefties so I would imagine that Bruihl gets an inning today and then they swap him out for Burr after the game.

Love to see the GDT so early in each day.  It is so much better than at the end of the season when they are out of it and we have 1 GDT for an entire series.  Love the engagement.  BTW f*** the Yankees.

Atkins just needs to secure a top of the rotation starter (Peralta?). A healthy Varsho and Santander should suffice the rest.

Not sure the Brewers would move Peralta. They are still contending.

I think Sandy Alcantara would be a good fit. He had a good June with a 3.47 FIP. He's also got a team friendly contract through 2027.

And he's never really been a huge K/9 guy so I think he would benefit from our elite framing and defense more than most frontline guys. The Marlins are slightly below average with both.

I just realized the Jays are hosting the Angels on the 4th of July. We have to pray our fans don’t do the dumbest thing by any booing on their Independence Day. Its also an Apple TV game. These are moments people won’t forgive or forget,

Yeah I honestly don't think they need to target a bat at this point.

One starter with 1.5-2.5 years of control and one high leverage reliever rental?

Personally looking forward to:

  • The Canada Blue Jays sweeping the America Yankees during the Canada Day series;
  • The fans of the Canada Blue Jays booing anything and everything to do with America during the 4th of July game
  • The Canada Blue Jays being the heel/villain for the remainder of the MLB season but winning the World Series anyway and then not getting invited to the White House

Are they still booing the US anthem? It seems that all that talk has settled down lately and that hasn't really been happening but I haven't really noticed either way. I didn't notice it during the Canada Day game.

If they didn't do it during the Canada Day game they are absolutely not going to do it July 4th.

Here’s hoping people are respectful.

Respect and awareness mostly. People need to realize how much of the Blue Jays roster is American. It’s just bad look. As a Canadian living in America. I can tell you a lot of people think a lot of things are foolish. But where that turns is disrespect to the flag and anthem. They don’t care what you think about the President that subject is divided enough.

Flags and anthems should be kept out of sports.  They are an anachronism left over from WW2.  Now they just serve to glorify the military industrial complex. But that is for another thread.
